Ariana Madix Reveals What Pushed Her Decision to Skip the Lake Tahoe Trip "Over the Edge"
Hear Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney discuss the real reason they didn't join their Vanderpump Rules castmates on the Lake Tahoe trip.
Most of the Vanderpump Rules crew traveled to Lake Tahoe upon Lisa Vanderpump's invitation on Season 11, Episode 5 (which aired February 27), but there were a few notable cast members missing from the trip. Who? Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney.
The two stayed behind in West Hollywood to continue preparing for the opening of their sandwich shop Something About Her, but as they revealed on the subsequent episode of the Vanderpump Rules After Show, that wasn't the only reason they skipped out on the getaway with Tom Schwartz, Tom Sandoval, Scheana Shay, Lala Kent, James Kennedy, Ally Lewber, and Brock Davies.

Ariana broached the subject on the Vanderpump Rules After Show by joking that she and her business partner "were really busy," and even if they weren't, they "were going to make [themselves] busy."
"I don't have a lot of free time as it is," Katie chimed in. "I've been on one trip this entire year and I'm not gonna take another trip to go hang out with the Toms."
Ariana agreed. "It was already a no," she said, "but then the house of it all really pushed it over the edge."
Poking fun at the fact that Ariana and Sandoval still live together, Katie quipped, "Like, if I wanted to share a house with my ex, I'll stay home."
Lala Kent and Scheana Shay's Reaction to Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney Skipping the Lake Tahoe Trip
Katie may have been joking, but Lala explained on the Vanderpump Rules After Show that she believes it's that line of thinking that led Schwartz to invite everyone in the first place. "I understood why Schwartzy was a little confused because he was like, 'Well, you share a house in L.A. Why can't you share a house in Tahoe?'" Lala noted.
That said, "I would've definitely skipped the trip if I were either of them," she added.
Scheana agreed, telling Lala, "I mean, obviously it makes sense they skipped the trip. I would've skipped the trip if you didn't go. There was no way I was going if you weren't going."
Were Ariana and Katie missed, then? Not according to Lala — but for a good reason. "Honestly, I'm not bummed out that they didn't go because the place was so stunning that I would want them to go and experience it feeling free," she said. "I'm into energy, and clearly I think the energy would've thrown them off."
