The estranged Vanderpump Rules alums addressed their split on the March 8, 2024 episode of their shared podcast, When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany, but in a new episode, the parents of 2-year-old Cruz also set the record straight about recent news of their living in separate homes, which some have derided as a publicity stunt ahead of their new series, which premieres on Tuesday, March 19 on Bravo.

Jax and Brittany Say Breakup Is Not a Publicity Stunt

The married couple clapped back at speculation that news of their split was merely to promote The Valley. Brittany even said that such accusations were making her “angry.”

“I think there’s a lot of people out there trying to act that what’s going on between us is a publicity stunt, but no,” said Brittany. “I would never uproot my child if it wasn’t for, you know, for the best and for us to try and figure things out between ourselves. It’s not a publicity stunt. I cannot make that clear enough.”

Jax stood by their decision to announce the separation, citing the importance of being transparent with their fans.

“The reason we did this, too, [is] because we feel like it’s important for us to be honest with all of our fans,” said Jax. “You guys have been so amazing over the years, and it’s just the right thing to do ... If we’re gonna do this and we’re gonna share our lives, we might as well let you guys know what’s going on.”

Brittany and Jax Are Still Friends Amidst Separation

The Kentucky-raised mother said she and Jax were busy co-parenting, even admitting that both attended a recent mixer with the parents of Cruz’s classmates.

“We are co-parenting; we’re doing the best that we can; we’re just trying to figure some things out right now,” said Brittany. “It doesn’t mean we are gonna get divorced or anything like that … things just need to be better. I’ll just say that.”

Jax said that what they were going through wasn’t any strange phenomenon, doubling down on recent statements he posted to X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

“You know what, too, I don’t know anybody who’s married who hasn’t gone through what we’re going through right now,” said Jax. “Everybody you know goes through something in their marriage, whether it’s a hiccup or taking a break or whatever, but it’s a normal thing. We’re trying to figure it out, and that’s pretty much where we’re gonna leave it.”

Brittany agreed they didn’t want to get into the nitty gritty on the podcast but thanked followers who supported their continuing journey. She reiterated that the separation was part of their “real lives.”

She said The Valley, the podcast, and their new sports bar were still full steam ahead.

“We also are still friends; we’re still co-parenting; Cruz is what matters the most,” Brittany continued. “We’re gonna be adulting as hell about this.”

Will Jax and Brittany’s split be seen on The Valley?

It just may be the case!

Brittany told listeners that, indeed, cameras went back up since filming for The Valley wrapped in September. She continued that “a lot has changed” since then, denying that the break-up had anything to do with the series.

“It’s gonna be such a good show,” Brittany emphasized. “There’s so many positive things that we go through, there’s a lot of drama but, you know. It’s a lot going on.”

In the meantime, the drama between the couple takes center stage in a new trailer for the series, with even Vanderpump Rules’ Tom Schwartz joking that Jax would end up “divorced and miserable.”

Fans can see Brittany telling her castmates that she and Jax aren’t having sex and that she feels her husband is no longer attracted to her. Others also discuss rumors of “Jax cheating online,” and in another clip, Jax discusses the challenges of juggling family life and his new business.
