On Below Deck Mediterranean Season 8, various crew members have suffered some health issues and even a serious injury. From stew Jessika Asai going to the hospital after feeling gravely sick to Captain Sandy Yawn fracturing her wrist after tripping over what seemed to be a plexiglass platform while helping Bosun Luka Brunton, we've faced a few stormy seas.

Kyle Viljoen suffers a big health scare on Below Deck Mediterranean

On the episode, when the next charter arrived (guests who have previously been featured on the Below Deck franchise), Kyle was unfortunately suffering a serious headache and tried to rest in his cabin in hopes of getting better.

As more time went on and he didn't improve, Sandy gave the stew a visit.

When Sandy asked if Kyle was "sick sick," he responded, "It's just my head that's bulging," indicating it was maybe something worse than a headache.

"Maybe you should go to the doctor, because your headache should be better by now," Sandy said, adding, "This isn't normal."

After lead deckhand Lara Du Preez took Kyle back to the dock, the captain and crew began to worry about their situation without the stew (as you can watch in the video above).

"I need his energy this charter," chief stew Tumi Mhlongo lamented in an interview after Kyle left the boat. "I'm never gonna be Kyle for these guys and these guys already have a relationship with Kyle, so it would have just added to the guest experience. I'm never gonna reach their level of craziness — it's not happening. We're pretty much screwed."

Luckily, the next day, Kyle was on the mend and made his return to the charter.

"After running a bunch of tests at the hospital it came to the conclusion that I have exhaustion, dehydration, and I've been suffering a migraine," Kyle said in an interview. "I feel immense guilt. I don't wanna let the guests down, I don't wanna let Tumi down."

He added with a little comedic relief: "But also: having dehydration and exhaustion ... that's normally what celebrities get hospitalized for; so am a celebrity?"

We last caught up with Kyle after he shared the details of another health issue. Back in October, the South Africa native revealed he had just been diagnosed with Stevens-Johnson Syndrome, revealing via his Instagram Stories a few days later that he had "a long recovery ahead."

A few weeks later, Kyle returned to his social media to give another update.

"I am so thankful my recovery from [SJS] is happening in the time that it is so I was ultimately able to be back where it makes me the happiest — Camera ready and a part of a huge happy party!" he wrote in the caption of an Instagram post. "I cannot thank my beloved followers for the texts, calls, gifts, love, [and] laughs! You are the reason I love my job so much [and] able to return it all."
