Kate Chastain's Florida rental home has the most stunning backyard view, but when the Below Deck alum went to look out her window recently, she was horrified by what she saw.

How to Watch

"So for the last 2 days my house exterior was COMPLETELY covered in love bugs," Kate wrote in an Instagram Story before showing the insects all over her deck and back door. "Then they were starting to somehow GET INTO MY HOUSE."

She noted of the experience: "I felt like I was living in an [Alfred] Hitchcock movie."

Kate then called for backup: her mother, who brought over spray as well as a fan to attempt to blow the bugs away. When that didn't work, Kate felt there may be additional forces at play in the home. "So pretty much all of yesterday I was convinced and freaked out that the house (built in 1890) that I'm renting during COVID [-19] isolation was haunted," she wrote on Instagram. "Because IT WAS JUST MY HOUSE."

Naturally, she turned to Google. When a search showed that signs of a house haunted by spirits included "unexplained electrical problems," Kate recalled "that time a few weeks ago when every single smoke detector was going off for no reason." An additional "sign," according to the site she was looking at, was  "sudden infestations of bugs or pests," caused Kate to grow more concerned.

"They were starting to BREAK INTO MY HOUSE WITHOUT ME OPENING ANY DOORS OR WINDOWS," she wrote. "A PLAGUE UPON MY HOUSE."

To find a resolution, Kate "was ready to have a [seance] and/or move out."

Luckily, no relocation was necessary as she woke up to the "miracle" of a bug-free house. While she noted she still had a few dead bugs in her window sill, most had collected in a white bucket she had filled with water on her deck. Still, Kate quipped as she enjoyed the day in her backyard, she planned on "buying a s--t ton of sage to burn later just in case."
