In a season of swimsuits and short skirts, you’d think our food porn would lean toward green juice and kale salads, but the latest mashup pretty much combines all of our guilty pleasures under (and over) one bun.
Chicken and Sons, a restaurant in Sydney, Australia, has launched the Bourbon Burgel, an otherwise classic cheeseburger topped with bourbon-glazed bacon and jalapeno-bacon barbecue sauce and placed on a bun made up of a sesame bagel. To make things even more intense, this entire burger (err, burgel) doubles as a plate for holding a shot glass of Bulleit bourbon, which has more bacon within. AND it comes with a side of beer-battered fries.
Our arteries are weeping. But hey, it does make an awesome Instagram shot.
Adam Spencer, owner and chef at Chicken and Sons in Surry Hills, Sydney, told The Daily Mail that his idea for this concoction came from his recent booze-buzz-inspired burger experimentation. “I did a burger a few weeks ago with Jack Daniels glazed bacon and thought, let's use a bagel instead of a burger bun and put a shot of Bulleit bourbon on top,” he said.
This hybrid (or would it be a tri-brid?!) runs for around $16. But the cost to your arteries and liver? Priceless.
