Meet The Real Shelter Dogs of Georgia ... and They're All Available for Adoption!

Adopting one of these dogs would be peachy!

By Stacy Lenz

We have seen the new trailer for The Real Housewives of Atlanta and it is juicier than a Georgia peach! More shocking than a secret husband (looking at you, Kenya Moore), is the return of NeNe Leakes and Kim Zolciak-Biermann. Everybody loves a good comeback, which brings us to why we are here today— there no greater comeback story than that of shelter dogs ready to be adopted by their future humans!

The adorable (and adoptable) dogs in this week’s installment of the Real Shelter Dogs come to us from Atlanta’s Orphan Annie Rescue. The organization rescues dogs (and cats!) from all over Georgia, many of which are on their “last day” at high intake shelters. Despite our Real Shelter misnomer, these dogs aren’t in an actual shelter but instead stay with a network of committed volunteer foster families as they wait to find their forever homes.

And now, hold on to your peaches and meet your real shelter dogs, complete with opening credits-worthy taglines!

Who gon pet me, boo?” — Brynn

Brynn is a 1 - 2 year old American Staffordshire Terrier mix who weighs about 50 lbs.  She is playful with dogs of all sizes, and she is friendly with any human she meets!

Life is a runway, and Cocoa is ready to walk it with you.— Cocoa

Cocoa found herself homeless when the health of both of her parents declined rapidly.  She is about 5 years old and 11 lbs, and like most Chihuahuas, gets very attached to her person! Cocoa loves to be held.

You can’t always get all the belly rubs, but I can.” — Elvis

Elvis is a Beagle around 2-years-old.  He is very sweet, laid back, and does well with other animals.

“I’m too blessed to be stressed, and too furry to be thirsty.” — Emmie

Emmie is a Cattle Dog mix who is around 1 year old & 40 lbs.  She is super sweet, friendly, and energetic.  She would make a great family dog and is looking for a home where she can be the only pet, as she wants the love all to herself!

“Forget Gone with the Wind Fabulous, I’m looking for Home With the Family Realness.” — Jagger

Jagger is a 6-year-old Chihuahua & Chinese Crested mix who often gets overlooked at adoption events.  He loves to be held and cuddled, and he also does well with other dogs.

Don’t call it a comeback. Call me a Good Dog!” — Annie

Annie was found as a stray with a large, open wound in her leg after having been attacked by other dogs when she was left behind when her family moved. Her leg wound has healed beautifully, and this 5-year-old lab mix is now ready to find her forever home.  She is perfect with everyone - adults, kids, dogs, and cats.
