We’ve suddenly got a hankering for a messy plate of sizzling hot wings. Whether it's because Super Bowl Sunday is coming up, or because these chefs' decadent spins on chicken wings are some of the most brilliant we've seen yet—who knows. Here's the play-by-play on 5 spots across the U.S. where you can score over-the-top versions of these maddeningly addictive treats.

Kung Pao Chicken Wings, Talde, New York

At Brooklyn's Talde, star chef, owner and Top Chef alum Dale Talde is cooking up some seriously must-try Kung Pao Chicken Wings. The deep-fried wings are perfectly crisp on the outside and topped with a sweet-and-sour sauce, peanuts, cilantro and scallions—and a super-creamy buttermilk ranch sauce on the side. (Warning: You'll want to pound that down like a cocktail.)

Miss Hay’s Stuffed Chicken Wings, NOLA Restaurant, New Orleans

Celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse serves up killer wings at his NOLA Restaurant in New Orleans. A long-time staple on the menu, Miss Hay’s Stuffed Chicken Wings are first plumped up with a mix of ground pork, shrimp, mushrooms, onions, celery, cilantro and fish sauce. Next, the wings are baked, then wok-fried to perfection. And to up the ante just a little bit more, they're joined on the plate by a house-made hoisin sauce for dipping.
