Twin style icons Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are bringing their fashion brand, The Row, into new territory. The sisters formerly known as Michelle Tanner recently announced that they'll try their hand at a full menswear collection, some 12 years after they founded their label.
Working side-by-side as sisters for all these years has come with its challenges, as well as with its rich rewards. Of her close bond with her sister, Ashley told The Wall Street Journal : “It’s been 32 years of learning how to communicate.” She added that their relationship is “a marriage and a partnership. We have had ups and downs.”
The publication caught up with the twins in their Manhattan showroom, where Ashley herself served as the model for a "very, very clean" cashmere jacket for men. The sisters told the publication that their latest project has been two years in the making; they spent the time traveling the globe in search of the perfect seams, stitches, and factories to inspire their line.
Family ties obviously run deep at The Row, and the co-founders were inspired by some of their own family members when they decided to expand their menswear line. The pair shared that friends and family members alike asked them to design more items for men, and Mary-Kate added that her husband Olivier Sarkozy wears suits on the regular.
When chatting with the press, the famous twins proved that their sisterly bond runs deeper than ever, and practically finished each other's sentences.
“We do everything together,” Ashley said. “We came out of the womb doing that,” added Mary-Kate.
