The stairs leading up the Metropolitan Museum of Art were filled with drama and romance on May 7, and we're only talking about those Met Gala gowns. As caught on camera, rapper 2 Chainz used the high-profile event as a backdrop for a marriage proposal, stooping down on bended knee to present a giant sparkler to his girlfriend Kesha Ward.
Needless to say, she said yes — and this isn't the first famous couple who got engaged at the glitzy gala. (It's also, possibly, not the first time that 2 Chainz has proposed to Ward ... but we digress.)
Back in 2004, Donald Trump also had a diamond-laden trick up his sleeve — or in his pocket — as a guest at the gala. On that Monday in May, the real estate mogul proposed to his then-girlfriend Melania Knauss, who would later become Melania Trump. The two were formerly fixtures at the museum fundraiser, which they attended annually between 2003 and 2012.
Don't look for them at the Met Gala in the future, though. Anna Wintour has made it clear that POTUS will not be invited back. Looks like they'll have to celebrate anniversaries at Mar-a-Lago instead!
In the meantime, we wish 2 Chainz and Ward a very happy marriage, and it seems that the pair is off a very fashionable start as husband and wife. Just one question: Will Wintour select the dress code for their wedding? Only time will tell.
