Does Travis Scott's Secret Romantic Side Shield Him From the "Kardashian Curse"?

All joking aside, we think there is an aspect of his personality that makes Travis Scott different than most of the other Kardashian-Jenner beaus.

Quick, name five things you know about Travis Scott and Kylie Jenner's relationship. (We'll wait.)

Struggling to come up with anything other than parents to Stormi who don't live together? (If so, you're not alone.)

The notoriously private couple just gave their *first* joint interview since they rode off on a tour bus together after meeting at Coachella. That, in itself, sets them apart from her famous siblings.

We learned a lot about the rapper that we didn't guess — like how sensitive and sweet he is — but the one thing that we think sets Travis apart from the other Kardashian/Jenner partners is that he genuinely seems to avoid and dislike any spotlight into his personal life.

Think about it: Khloe’s relationship with Lamar Odom was openly shown from the start, and the exes even had a spinoff show filmed in their own home. That’s not camera shy. Then, take Scott Disick — he’s never been a stranger to any public appearance, and he seemed to genuinely like the attention that came with a famous partner. (And seems to still like that.)

Meanwhile, Kylie and Travis didn't even confirm her pregnancy until after she had given birth. Kylie now admits that any reluctance to display their lives is coming in large part from her man's wishes, explaining, "I don't think he's really cool with it, but he deals with it, because we love each other and we have a family. For sure, I know he doesn't like the attention. That's why we just go the extra mile to keep our relationship super private."

It makes sense considering how analyzed her sisters' relationships are and, even for those in happy twosomes, there are public struggles over crazy statements and even over shared pics on Instagram seemingly on the daily.

Here are the things we learned about Travis Scott in this GQ interview that make him seem totally relatable — and offer his best line of defense against the "Kardashian Curse":

He stays out of the public eye.

It's hard when you're famous (we assume) to keep a relationship private, but even regular couples often fall victim to constant social media comparing and one-upping with friends and strangers alike. From what we can tell, Travis spends most of his time in Texas while Kylie currently lives with her BFF. He explains "I'm on my own island. So hey, come over there to Astroworld. I'm not into all the other shit. I don't get involved. I'm over here."

He's confident in their relationship.

"Kylie actually likes me for me," Travis says. "They come and can't handle it," Kylie agrees, alluding to the men who haven't lasted in the Kardashian-Jenner orbit and flamed out in the "Kardashian Curse." It's almost like when you don't concern yourself with what other people think, it can make it easier to survive in the public eye. Still, Kylie also admits that he "gets more angry about things" where she explains "I know these stories aren't going to matter, so don't even let them affect you, you know?"

He's not afraid to publicly admit he cries.

When asked when he last cried, Travis answers, "When my daughter was born. As soon as I heard her crying..." Sure, this doesn't say anything about his relationship per se but it sure made us aww and sounds like a totally normal reaction from a new papa. He adds that "hell yeah" he was there for the whole birth, saying "I was there through the hell...the epidural and shit. Crazy."

His gifts are not just 'for the 'gram.'

Yes, we can all picture floral arrangements and OTT presents but, think about this: How often has Kylie posted a pic of something that Travis got her? It doesn't mean he's not doing the grand romantic gestures: "But probably the most romantic thing he's done for me is, on my birthday, he woke me up out of bed at like six in the morning. He was like, “We gotta go,” and I'm just like half asleep, like, “What do you mean? What do you mean?” And he just starts pulling me, and the sun was just coming up, and he had flowers all the way down his house and violin players everywhere."

Planning that takes thoughtfulness and coordination. Check, check.

In case you think it's all happy times, Kylie also admits that they had a recent fight which left her in tears. So she did what any sad girlfriend would do; she impulsively hopped on a plane to go see him in Houston for a few hours. Wait a minute ... maybe their relationship isn't that normal after all.
