Even at its simplest, dinner at Patricia Altschul's house is a feast for the senses. Served by her butler Michael in a sumptuous dining room, the meals tend to involve famously rich Southern treats — and the dinner Patricia hosted on August 28 was no exception. But, the surprisingly light dessert brought some balance to the otherwise deliciously decadent eats.
Southern Charm's Shep Rose and Cameran Eubanks joined Patricia for dinner, and showcased the action from the dining room on Instagram Stories. On his feed, Shep showed Cameran tucking into a dish of cheesy macaroni, and shared that ribs were also on the menu. Take a look at this temptation (and say hello to Michael):

But, when it came time for dessert, watermelon was the dish of honor. On an Instagram Live chat, Cameran showed the group discussing why the fruit makes the best dessert. It works, Patricia shared, when one is on a diet. Plus, the group agreed that it's a quintessentially Southern treat — and it's in season!
The moral of this story: Mac and cheese and ribs chased by a little fruit is a well-balanced, and perfectly charmed, summer feast.
