Amanda Batula admits she ended 2023 in a bit of “funk.” However, she’s looking to change all that in the New Year.

How to Watch

Watch Summer House on Bravo Thursdays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

On Thursday, January 18, the Summer House cast member posted an honest and very relatable video about her months-long struggle to find motivation. Amanda said there was “no particular reason” for her emotional state, but said it had a big effect on her everyday life, including her eating habits.

“So I’ve been in a weird funk [for] the past, I don’t know, three months,” she said in the Instagram Story. “I honestly don’t know what it is. But I’ve been feeling super unmotivated. So I’ve almost completely stopped cooking.”

Amanda Batula says she plans to cook more in 2024

As a result, Amanda and her husband, Kyle Cooke, have relied a lot more on takeout and delivery. Although completely understandable, the revelation was a bit surprising as Amanda’s affinity for cooking has been well documented on Summer House.

But don’t worry. Amanda reassured her followers that she intends to change course in 2024 and spend much more time in the kitchen.

“One of my New Year’s resolutions was to start cooking again,” she said in the video. “and tonight I made Caesar salad, which, like, ‘Wow, Hannah, Caesar salad?’ But I made the dressing from scratch. It’s my mom’s recipe. It’s one of my favorites.”

Amanda went on to show off the delicious-looking dish that she prepared in her New York City apartment. The salad included kale, romaine lettuce, croutons, parmesan cheese, and a fried egg for extra protein.

A day after the post, Amanda returned to Instagram and graciously shared her mother's dressing recipe online.

A series of images with a Ceasar Salad recipe and instructions on how to make it.

“And it isn’t the first thing that I’ve made, but it’s the first thing that I’ve made that reminded me of how much I enjoy cooking,” she said about the salad. “So hopefully this will help kick me out of this funk. And if you’re going through it, I feel you. I feel you.”

What's next for Amanda Batula?

Amanda is now gearing up for the premiere of Summer House Season 8, which will shed more light on her and Kyle’s relationship. According to a press release, the season will find Amanda “contemplating the next step” in building her family as well as “her identity outside of her marriage.”

She and Kyle will also address a potential relocation. The former is reportedly “ready to leave city life behind and buy a house in the suburbs.” However, Kyle may not be prepared for such a change, as he “continues to expand and focus on his company,” Loverboy.

Summer House Season 8 will premiere Thursday, February 22, at 9/8c on Bravo. New episodes will stream the next day on Peacock.
