Ariana Madix Claps Back at *Those* Diva Comments: "I Don't Live Some Sort of Glamorous Life"

VPR's Katie Maloney, Lala Kent, Scheana Shay, and James Kennedy also weighed in on who Ariana is today.

By Shannon Raphael

Ariana Madix has kept busy in the year since she split from her boyfriend of nine years, Tom Sandoval, but she doesn't think it's changed her attitude.

How to Watch

Watch Vanderpump Rules on Bravo Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

On Season 11, Episode 3 of Vanderpump Rules (which aired on February 13), Ariana interacted with former friend Tom Schwartz for the first time since the Season 10 reunion.

After inviting the entire group to Lake Tahoe for a getaway, Schwartz accused Ariana of having a big ego in the wake of her success.

Ariana called Schwartz out for the comment on the show, and she further shared her perspective during the Vanderpump Rules After Show. Find out how she really feels about being called a diva by scrolling below (or by watching the video at the top of this post).

Ariana Madix Reacts to Being Called a Diva During the Vanderpump Rules After Show

When Schwartz confirmed that he was inviting the entire Vanderpump Rules crew, Ariana declined the invitation, and she called the Schwartz & Sandy's co-owner a "lost cause."

Schwartz reacted by saying, "OK, you don't speak on behalf of the whole group."

"You're not the queen of the group. Come on," he continued. "Your ego is getting a little, like, come on."

On the After Show, Schwartz doubled down on calling Ariana a diva.

"I think for a short period of time, she might not even have been aware of it, but I think it went to her head," he said. "I think she became a diva a little bit."

In her own interview alongside business partner Katie Maloney, Ariana denied having a big ego.

"I don't understand how working jobs translates to my ego or my personality, like, at all. Like getting up and going to work? Don't those people get up and go to work?" she wondered. "I don't know what that means. Like, I don't think I'm like any cooler than I was before all this."

She noted that, after her breakup, she just kept saying yes to work opportunities.

"I don't think that working hard is something that typically gives people a big ass ego. You know, I took inventory and was like, 'I have to work my f-cking ass off," she added. "I want our sandwich shop to be successful."

Ariana reiterated that she does not believe that she's changed.

"I don't live some sort of glamorous life, and I don't think I'm any cooler," she concluded. "Like, I'm not."

The Vanderpump Rules Cast Sounds Off on the Diva Comments

While Schwartz and Sandoval defended the diva comment in their joint interview, several of Ariana's fellow castmates shared different perspectives on the matter.

Katie felt like Ariana should be taking advantage of all of her opportunities.

"How do you not feel a little cool, though?" Katie asked.

"Also, who knows if these opportunities are going to keep coming or not, or maybe," she continued. "You don't know, you don't know, so it's like, while they're there, you may as well, because you just never f-cking know."

James Kennedy doesn't feel like Ariana has changed, but that she "just has more confidence."

Ariana's bestie, Scheana Shay, has noticed a few differences.

"I don't hear from her as much, I'll say that," Scheana admitted. "She returns less and less texts. I know she's more and more busy, but I've seen a change in that she never asks, I don't think, how anyone else is doing."

Lala Kent agreed, but she said that it's been that way for her for a while.

"I would say there's three people in the group, that even before this, have rarely asked me about me. And that is Tom Sandoval, Ariana, and Katie — or really tooting my horn at all," she said. "But, that's OK, I'm beep beeping enough for all of us."
