Below Deck Med's David Pascoe Has Updates on His Leg Injury and Yachting Career
The deckhand details an even worse injury he experienced in the past.
David Pascoe's leg injury this season of Below Deck Mediterranean isn't the only accident the deckhand has experienced while out at sea. The yachtie recently opened up about another scary incident in a post on Instagram.
While addressing why he continued with his work on the Lady Michelle after becoming injured, David shared a photo of a massive cut he suffered to his head prior to this season of Below Deck Med. (Warning: The Instagram post features a graphic photo and video.) "This is the result of, what actually, was an amazing session on the hydrofoil. Unfortunately sharp edged carbon fibre is stronger than my head," David said. "This happened out to sea, at a location where I had to be dropped by boat as there’s no access from land. Knock happened, boat not due for 2 hours, kept foiling."
David went on to explain that he received stitches for his wound. "Stitches done, helmet on and home I went. I was due to fly back to the UK the following day and I did just that," he said. "Head healed, stitches out, life goes on."
He also shared some of the other injuries he has incurred over the years. "I’ve lost fingers, fractured my spine, I’m littered with scars from work, from play, from living," he wrote. "Maybe I am stubborn, maybe I am stupid but if I can carry on then I’ll do just that."
David then explained how he was able to keep on working with his leg injury this season of Below Deck Med. "My bruised leg may have looked severe but it did not hinder my work and I was never going to let down the crew and call it quits. My experience outweighed my slightly adjusted [maneuverability]," he said. "We are such fragile creatures but we aren’t made of glass. I wouldn’t change the scars I carry for the experiences and lessons I’ve learned in procuring them."
If you look at David's Instagram, you'll see that he is someone who likes to participate in rather extreme — and risky — activities in his downtime, including riding motorcycles, jet skis, and quads, diving, and surfing.
David ended his September 14 Instagram post with an update on his injury. "P.S. my leg is fine," he confirmed.
In fact, David is still in yachting today. He recently posted a selfie from his new job on Instagram. "Almost left yachting, didn’t," David captioned the September 13 post.
David and the rest of the Lady Michelle crew open up more about his fall and the aftermath in the Below Deck Mediterranean After Show clip, above, exclusive to Bravo Insider.
