Bethenny Frankel's Holiday Eating Survival Guide
The SkinnyGirl says put down the eggnog and slowly back away.
Pumpkin pie. Eggnog. Creamed spinach. 'Tis the season to fall of your diet wagon (hard), so thank your lucky stuffing that Bethenny Frankel's here to help.
"There are healthier versions of everything. And you don't have to sacrifice anything when it comes to flavor," she promises on her website. "You just have to find ways to make the things you love by renovating them, such as a healthy sweet potato soufflé, gravy, chicken wings, or even blue cheese dip. Everything can be revamped!"
The Bethenny Ever After star has a plan for working the holiday office party circuit, too. "When you're at a cocktail party, here's the trick to navigating the buffet table and hors d'oeuvres: Go for the high-volume investments first, even if you don't want them!'
That means munching on the raw carrots instead of the fried mac and cheese balls. "Reach for the vegetables then perhaps the high-protein options such as shrimp, to fill yourself up," Bethenny advises. "Start with the healthier menu items and you'll be better equipped to enjoy just a small amount of the more decadent fare later on (without stomach pangs!)."
The SkinnyGirl offers even more holiday cheer, including her advice on cooking a turkey and handling the in-laws on Bethenny.com.
