Bethenny Thwarts Russian Crime Ring

Between books, business, and baby, B pulls off a major bust.

By Jordan Upmalis

Bethenny Frankel: businesswoman, author, mother... crime fighter.

The Bethenny Ever After star recently visited Lopez Tonight and, well, we'll let her explain. "I wound up uncovering one of the largest Russian crime rings on eBay because I got scammed," she says. "My ring got stolen, crossed state lines -- all this went through eBay. I had private detectives involved and the cops, and no one would help me. I said to myself, I'm going back to the scene of the crime -- I'm going back to eBay."

Sure enough, Bethenny found the wayward ring, and tracked it to Midtown Manhattan. "So I went in to 47th Street, and I said, 'Oh my god, my husband's buying me a ring and he's going to pay cash and it's got to be big.' So I found my exact ring and put it on my hand."

But despite her willingness to work deep cover, she said she initially faced a, well, unenthusiastic response from police. "I called this guy at the police department who wouldn't help. I said, 'We're going in there and we're getting my ring, and if you don't get down her by 5 o'clock, I'm going in and I'm stealing it, and then you can take me to jail.

But when Bethenny finally returned to retrieve her ring, she had a bit of backup. "So I walk in, I put my ring on, I raise, my hand with the ring, and the cops -- full sting operation. They uncovered a Russian crime ring."
