Dr. Heavenly Kimes Explains Why We Never See Her Son Zachary Kimes on Married to Medicine
Here's what 17-year-old Zachary really thinks of Married To Medicine.
You can feel Dr. Heavenly Kimes' love for her family just radiate from the screen in every episode of Married to Medicine. We've seen her husband, Dr. Damon Kimes, accompany her on couples' trips, her son Damon Jr., 20, visit from college, and her daughter Alaura, 13, work on her music career.
However, there is one member of the Kimes family we never get to see on Married to Medicine: Dr. Heavenly's 17-year-old son Zachary. "Zachary wants no part of this show," Dr. Heavenly explained during an interview with The Daily Dish earlier this season. "He doesn't like it. He doesn't want to do it. He's my shy boy... He'll probably be a neurosurgeon or something. He's a smart baby. He's beautiful. He has just a wonderful spirit, but he's not here for the cameras. I have trouble even taking a picture with him."
Dr. Heavenly also shared that her son is already very independent, even though he's still a teenager. "He's driving. He's basically grown," she said. "Very mature. He takes care of himself. If he wants something to eat, he'll go get it or he'll cook it. He's grown pretty much."
Dr. Heavenly shared that Alaura is also very mature for her age, or, as she put it, "13 going on 43." "When me and her are alone, it's like I'm talking to a 40-year-old woman. She expresses her thoughts and feelings, and she feels comfortable doing so. And she tells me everything," she said. "And I'm just so happy that she says things to me to ask me my advice on things like boys and her different body changes, all that. She talks to me, and I just love that."
Still, Alaura isn't afraid to send some sass back to her mama at times. "She's very confident. I think she's gonna do well in life," Dr. Heavenly said. "But she's sassy."
Alaura definitely keeps busy like her mom, too. "Alaura's doing great. She's still doing her music. She's more into acting, and she's a cheerleader now. She made the cheerleading squad," Dr. Heavenly shared. "So she's very active, always been active, making great grades in school."
Dr. Heavenly and Damon's eldest son, Damon Jr., is following in his parents' footsteps and pursuing a career in healthcare. Damon Jr., who turns 21 next month, recently transferred to Howard University where he is pre-med in the hopes of one day becoming an anesthesiologist. Dr. Heavenly said they plan on having Damon Jr. take over his father's surgical center one day. "If my son does what he needs to do, he can just take over and walk in to something that'll be a multimillion dollar business," she said. "So I'm really proud of him, and that will be his legacy, our legacy for him."
With kids like this, how could Dr. Heavenly not be one proud mommy? "We've been blessed, beyond blessed," Dr. Heavenly gushed. "We're doing something right. Gotta be."
