Fredrik Eklund Embraces His New Role of Being a Dad to Derek's Son
"Kai now has two fathers," the #MDLNY agent said.
Fredrik Eklund has never held back on trying to make his dream of becoming a father come true. While he's faced obstacles along the way, as Season 5 of Million Dollar Listing New York wrapped up on Thursday he came to a realization about being a dad: He already is one. Fredrik's longtime partner Derek Kaplan shared with the real estate agent that he already sees him as a second dad to his son, Kai. (As Fredrik previously explained, Derek welcomed Kai into his life after he donated sperm to a lesbian couple he met in London about seven years ago. Kai lives there full-time.) And from the looks of it, Fredrik is taking on that role in a big way. While on vacation with his husband this week, he posted a snapshot of himself with Kai, sharing, "I learned a LOT this year. Kai now has two fathers."
It's been a big season for the MDLNY guys. In addition to Fredrik embarking on this next chapter and Luis D. Ortiz stepping away from real estate to pursue other endeavors, on Thursday, Ryan Serhant married his longtime love, Emilia Bechrakis, in Greece. Fredrik also congratulated the newlyweds following their nuptials ("Also, congratulations to Mr and Mrs Serhant getting married tonight").
