GG welcomed baby Elijah at 8:50 p.m. in Los Angeles on Monday night. He weighed 6.5 pounds and measured 19.5 inches. "Everyone is doing great and Golnesa is beyond excited to be a mom and start this new adventure," GG's rep, Steve Honig, said in a statement.

After previously expressing her desire to start a family on Shahs of Sunset, GG announced that she was expecting her first child in October 2019. “This is what I wanted my entire life,” GG told PEOPLE at the time. “When little girls were talking about their perfect husband and their perfect weddings, I was talking about the 10 kids I was going to have.”

However, the road to motherhood was definitely not easy for GG. As we saw this season of Shahs of Sunset, she first conceived with the use of a sperm donor via IVF but then lost the baby after about seven weeks due to an ectopic pregnancy, which resulted in GG having emergency surgery to have both of her fallopian tubes removed.

"I don't fixate on things very long. I sort of get over things easily, and when that situation took place, I wanted to blame someone, I wanted to be mad at someone, and I had no one to be mad at," GG recalled to The Daily Dish during an interview in February. "It was a lot to process, but I came out of it, and I went at it again."

Going through the process of IVF again in the hopes of getting pregnant was an easy decision for GG to make. "For me, the ultimate goal was to have a child, and I wasn't planning to stop until I was told there's no way in hell that it's possible for me to have a child," she said. "Getting up and starting again after that unfortunate situation, it was not a doubt in my mind. It's what I had to do."

GG successfully became pregnant again after another round of IVF. She told The Daily Dish that her pregnancy became "so much more precious and so much more valuable" after everything she had been through to get there.

GG celebrated her future child with a baby shower at her Los Angeles home in March in which she not only revealed that she was having a boy but that she was also naming him Elijah. “Honestly, since I was little, I have been in love with Elijah Wood,” GG told PEOPLE of the inspiration for her baby's name. “I remember first seeing him in [1992’s] Radio Flyer. He was just, the guy for me. My best friend and I even had a bet where I said if I had a boy, I’d name him Elijah. So when I found out I was pregnant with a boy, I was like, ‘Well, that’s settled!’"

She also said that her son's name pays tribute to her sperm donor, who is Jewish. “It’s a Hebrew name, so it kind of honors my ‘Donor Daddy,’ as I call him,” GG joked. “It was just perfect; it all worked out perfectly.”

GG, who is currently single and not dating, has long planned on raising her child on her own. "I just think that I have a lot of love to give right now, and I have a great family that's prepared to give a lot of love," GG told The Daily Dish in February. "And if the day comes that I meet someone that works out for the time being, then that's what's gonna happen."

One of the most difficult parts of GG's pregnancy was coping with her rheumatoid arthritis (RA) at the same time. She shared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen this winter that she was going to be induced earlier than her original May 16 due date so that she could resume her regular RA treatment.

GG also expressed some anxiety over being pregnant and eventually giving birth amid the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. "I'm due in less than 2 months but am freaking out about having a baby while the entire world is crumbling," she tweeted in March. "Stay strong my little Elijah. You're entering a world of chaos my son."

Luckily, GG has her beautiful Rottweiler Zsa-Zsa, aka her "baby girl," to help keep her and her son safe, as well as the support of the Shahs of Sunset cast.

As the day of her son's birth approached, GG admitted that she was getting "a little nervous" while trying to make sure everything was ready for his arrival. However, her excitement over finally meeting her little one definitely outweighed the stress. "I'm getting really excited about having a baby," she shared with The Daily Dish in February. "The closer it's getting to it, the more real it's becoming."
