Here’s the Real Reason Kandi Burruss Didn’t Attend Several RHOA Season 15 Events
The Xscape songstress revealed why it seemed like she was "not showing up" for the rest of the RHOA cast.
As Kandi Burruss first said on The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 14, she's worldwide — which could explain why she's been missing from a few group events on Season 15.
The multi-hyphenate has faced criticism from a few of her castmates, including her frenemy, Marlo Hampton, and her close friends Shereé Whitfield and Kenya Moore, for not attending certain gatherings with the other ladies.
On Episode 11 of RHOA Season 15, which aired on July 23, Kenya had a conversation with Shereé about asking her to stay on the group trip to Portugal after Kandi got sick.
"I was so mad at her before, I feel bad. Like, did I force her to stay?" Kenya told the She By Shereé creator. "Because I was like, 'You're never here.'"
Kandi addressed the matter during a group dinner later on in the episode, and she also revealed the real reason why she wasn't able to be around the ladies as much on the July 23 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Find out what she said by scrolling below.
Why Kandi Burruss Missed Events on RHOA Season 15
On the late night talk series, host Andy Cohen asked Kandi if it was "fair" for the other ladies to call her out for not showing up to certain events with the rest of the cast.
"I was very busy. I mean, I don’t know what else to say," Kandi said, before mentioning that performing with her singing group, Xscape, took up a lot of space on her schedule. "My group was touring a lot at the time and, you know, it was a lot of events I had to be at. I’m sorry."
What Kandi Burruss Said to the RHOA Cast About Missing Events
While the ladies were out to dinner during their Portugal trip, Shereé brought up the conversation she had with Kenya about Kandi's absence from the group.
"I have other responsibilities, you know, especially lately with my group," Kandi told Shereé and Kenya, along with other cast members Marlo Hampton, Drew Sidora, Sanya Richards-Ross, and friends Monyetta Shaw-Carter and Courtney R. Rhodes, about her recent distance from the cast events.
"You have not been available for us," Shereé said. Kandi, however, explained that it's hard for her to want to say no to any business opportunities.
"Sometimes when opportunities come up, I just can't turn [them] down, you know what I mean? For me right now, I feel like I'm still in a building stage..." Kandi said. "To me, I always say, 'It's easier to never have had it than to have it and lose it. When you get that feeling of having something and losing it, then you['ll] be like, 'Once I get it back, I'm never letting it [go].' You feel what I'm saying?"
After acknowledging that she doesn't even get any time to herself, Kandi admitted that she hasn't been very involved with the other women.
"The girls feel like I'm not showing up for them right now, and I get it. I'm not around for anything lately, and I really don't have any excuse but I'm working, I'm working, I'm working," she said in an interview on the episode. "And at a certain point, I know they're just going to be like, 'Well we are [going to] stop inviting you. Because I would. I would say that."
Fans will have to stay tuned to find out if Kandi will be able to get more involved with the other ladies as the season continues, but where does she really stand with RHOA alum Kim Zolciak-Biermann now? Watch the video below to find out.
