Does Gizelle Bryant Even Know Why Karen Huger Brought Up "Sing Sing" on RHOP?
The RHOP cast member reacts to all of the drama at Dr. Wendy Osefo's Nude Interlude party.
Karen Huger dropped everyone's jaws with everything she had to say about Gizelle Bryant at Dr. Wendy Osefo's Nude Interlude party in The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 6 premiere. Well, it turns out that Gizelle has an equally eyebrow-raising response.
When the topic of Karen came up during Gizelle's July 18 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Gizelle revealed some surprising information about Karen's iconic moniker, grande dame. "Do you know the history? Do you know I gave her that name?" Gizelle said on WWHL.
"I don't think I realized that," host Andy Cohen said in response, to which Gizelle added, "And she still hasn't thanked me."
Andy then gave Gizelle the opportunity to respond to Karen's comments at the Nude Interlude dinner. Gizelle explained why she never gets "upset about anything she says," which you can hear all about in the above clip.
When it came to perhaps the most puzzling statement from Karen, when she told the group, "and that's why we went to Sing Sing," Gizelle said on WWHL that she didn't know what she was referring to. "I don't know what a Sing Sing is," Gizelle said.
Karen previously explained her "Sing Sing" comments during her appearance on WWHL on July 11. "The Sing Sing thing, I'll say this, Gizelle is really good at sparring, and she likes to pull you into her darkness," Karen said. "I came up with Sing Sing because I wanted to come back into the light and add some comedy to it, because it just got too dark."
She also clarified that her comments had nothing to do with Sing Sing Correctional Facility, the well-known prison in Ossining, New York. In fact, Karen told Andy, "I never knew Sing Sing was a jail," adding, "I was just trying to make light of a very, very dark situation between two old friends."
Unsurprisingly, Wendy's Nude Interlude party was a hot topic on Sunday night's WWHL. Andy also read a fan question to Gizelle wondering what it was like to see new Potomac Housewife Mia Thornton stick up for her that night, even though Karen was the one who introduced her to the group. "No, Mia has a great head on her shoulders," Gizelle responded. "She knows what she's talking about at all times."
Mia showed her approval for Gizelle's comments on WWHL, tweeting, "YES. I. Know. What. I’m. Talking. About."
When Mia appeared in the July 17 episode of The Daily Dish podcast, she explained that even though she was aware of Karen and Gizelle's long-held beef prior to the Nude Interlude party, she was going to make her own judgment about Gizelle. "So Karen had warned me. She told me that Gizelle has a hard time with new people in general," Mia said. "And my response to her was, 'That sounds like a personal problem, not mine [laughs].' So it had nothing to do with me."
Of course, Mia still has a lot of love for Karen. "Karen is such a gem. I love her. She checks on me often," she shared. "And I hope that our friendship and our bond continues to remain as strong as it is growing to be now that [we're] within jogging distance of each other. We’re gonna have a lot of fun this summer."
As a longtime fan of RHOP before she joined the show and knowing how much drama can sometimes transpire among the ladies, Mia admitted that she felt a little uneasy when she first arrived for the Nude Interlude party with Karen. "When going into this and walking into Wendy’s home, I wasn’t exactly sure what I was walking into," Mia said during her interview with The Daily Dish podcast. "I just said, hey, I'm just gonna be me. And they can love me or they can hate me, but at the end of the day I'm just gonna be me. And we ended up having a great time."
Finally meeting the women that she had watched for years on TV in person was "absolutely" a surreal experience, according to Mia. "But the first thing that came to my mind was, 'Oh my gosh, they’re so much prettier in person [laughs].' And at first, you know, I wanted to say that," she recalled. "But then they were like, 'OK, who’s this girl? Where did she come from?' But I really did think that. I was like, 'Oh, wow, like, they’re beautiful women, and their aura radiates.'"
Mia shares more about meeting her fellow Potomac Housewives, including opening up to the ladies about her age gap with her husband, Gordon, and all of her cosmetic procedures, in the latest episode of The Daily Dish podcast. Check it out, below.
