Lala Kent Calls James Kennedy “One of My Soulmates”

The Vanderpump Rules cast member is setting the record straight on her friendship with James once and for all.

By Allison Crist

Over the years, Lala Kent and James Kennedy have gone from being friends to more than friends to not friends at all. And while the Vanderpump Rules castmates are currently in a good (and platonic) place, one fan made a point to ask Lala during a recent Instagram Q&A session whether or not she believes she and James are “soulmates.”

How to Watch

Read on to find out what she said and to get a rundown on the pair’s relationship over the years.

Does Lala consider James her “soulmate”?

In a sense, yes. Responding to a fan-submitted question on June 25, Lala wrote, “Soulmates come in many forms. I don’t think that ‘soulmate’ only means an intimate partner. So yes, James is one of my soulmates.”

Lala and James’ Relationship History

This definitely isn’t the first time Lala has been questioned about her and James’ relationship. After all, the two just revealed during Vanderpump Rules Season 10 they had hooked up a few years ago after James started dating Raquel Leviss. However, as recently as last month, Lala reiterated that she and James are just friends, and they plan to keep it that way — especially since he’s currently dating Ally Lewber, who Lala admitted she’s a big fan of.

“I would say that we went to dinners and things like that in Season [4], but I work in two different zones. I don’t picture him as the stepfather,” Lala joked to Rolling Stone, referencing her 2-year-old daughter, Ocean Kent Emmett. “And I love Ally. I think he finally has a good one.”

What’s more, Lala pointed out that her hookups with James took place before she got sober in October 2018, and that nothing has happened between them since she stopped drinking alcohol.

“I know neither of us feel the romantic connection,” Lala explained. “I believe any intimacy we had was alcohol-fueled. I don’t think we ever made out sober. But we’re always gonna be homies for the rest of my life.”

When the time comes for her to get married, she even wants James to play a special role. More specifically, Lala noted, “I always say to him, ‘If I ever get married, you will be the man of honor.’”

Perhaps the same could be said for James’ eventual wedding — after all, he and Ally have talked about marriage. In the meantime, see what James and Ally are currently up to after Vanderpump Rules Season 10.
