Luann de Lesseps' Relationship History: From the Count to Tom D'Agostino & More
The Real Housewives of New York City cast member has gone through multiple divorces and had numerous flings.
The Real Housewives of New York City alum Luann de Lesseps once shared her advice for finding love. "You have to think that every time you leave your house — whether you are going to the market, church, or the hardware store (always a great place) — that you might meet the man of your dreams," she told Hollywood Life in 2012.
"Being interested is what makes you interesting, so why not take an art or cooking class or volunteer for a cause you care about? This way, you'll meet a man who enjoys doing the same things as you and with whom you have some sort of connection," the Luann & Sonja: Welcome to Crappie Lake cast member added.
In her 14 seasons on RHONY, we saw the mom of two get divorced, fall in love, deal with heartbreak, get married, get divorced again, and re-enter the dating world. Here's everything you need to know about Luann's history with her first husband, Count Alexandre de Lesseps, her second husband, Tom D'Agostino Jr., her boyfriend Jacques Azoulay, and more.
Luann's First Husband Count Alexandre de Lesseps
Luann married Count Alexandre de Lesseps — the man who made her a Countess — in 1993. Their romance started as a whirlwind. "After the fifth day, he said, 'Marry me,'” Luann revealed on a RHONY special episode in 2016. “I lived in a fairy tale, too good to be true."
The two were married for 17 years and share children Victoria and Noel. Luann was, in fact, still married to the Count when RHONY Season 1 premiered in 2008. The following year, however, the pair called it quits.
"I think people think I'm the countess that married the old count and the Housewives came along and changed my life. But before I was a Housewife, I feel like I lived a lifetime of lives," Luann told producers for the 2016 special.
Of their eventual split, she added: "My family knew my marriage was in trouble. But the Housewives didn't know. I didn't want it to be fodder for the show."
Luann's Ex-Boyfriend Jacques Azoulay
Following her split from the Count, Luann and Jacques' romance played out on RHONY. Though cheating rumors swirled during a cast trip in 2012 when Luann partied with a few French-speaking friends and a Johnny Depp doppelganger playfully known as “the pirate,” Luann vehemently denied the accusations and the situation never seemed to rock the boat in their relationship. The two were together for four years before parting ways in 2013.
Shortly after the split, Luann explained to Life and Style why the relationship didn’t work out. "We adore each other, but we want different things," Luann told the publication at the time. "Jacques wants to have a family. We were just hoping that it would happen in all these years we've been together… We talked about adoption, but I've spent 18 years raising kids — I want to do other things."
The breakup, however, was amicable. "Jacques and I want to be friends," she said. "We do love each other, so I hope we can make a friendship work."
Indeed, years later, Luann gave an update on her friendship with Jacques and it was still going strong. “Jacques and I have a really healthy relationship,” Luann shared in a May 2020 RHONY episode. “He checks in with me, and I do the same. But now, Jacques is engaged, and that makes me happy! To see Jacques happy makes me happy, and that’s all I want for him.”
Luann's History with Harry Dubin
In Season 6 — which aired in 2014 — Luann had an on-camera with RHONY legend Harry Dubin (who was once married to RHONY cast member Aviva Drescher and has also been romantically linked to cast mates Sonja Morgan and Ramona Singer).
Years later, Harry spoke about a (seemingly separate) romantic entanglement with Luann on an episode of the podcast Behind the Velvet Rope with David Yontef.
In the May 2020 interview, Harry explained that he first met Luann at one of Sonja’s cocktail parties at her townhouse in the late aughts. That night, she pulled Harry into a cab and they “had a very nice evening,” he recalled.
“That’s the way Luann is. She goes after what she wants and she gets it. You can’t really deny that,” said Harry, explaining that it ended up being more than a “one-time thing,” but now, he’s “totally friends with everybody.”
Luann's Second Husband Tom D’Agostino Jr.
Luann first met Tom in late 2015 when they were introduced by their mutual friend, Dorinda Medley. They saw each other again at The Mark Restaurant by Jean-Georges in NYC months later and started dating.
Early the next year, the pair got engaged in February 2016 — with an eight-carat canary yellow diamond ring to seal the deal. "Luann is 'over the moon' in love with Thomas, considers him her soulmate, and is so happy and grateful to have found love a second time,” Luann’s rep told Entertainment Tonight at the time.
As the duo planned their wedding during Season 8 of RHONY, Bethenny Frankel received shocking information that Tom had been unfaithful. Still, Luann went through with the wedding.
Less than a year after their 2016 New Year’s Eve nuptials, however, Luann and Tom split.
"It's with great sadness that Tom & I agreed to divorce," Luann said in a statement on Twitter in August 2017. "We care for each other very much, hope you respect our privacy during this sad time!"
Luann revealed why she decided to file for divorce in a Watch What Happens Live One-on-One with Luann de Lesseps, seen above. "It was, like, the weekend before the reunion basically. And Tom went out, and he called up an old girlfriend and they met up with a group of people and I didn't know about it. I found out about it the next day in the press," Luann recalled to Andy Cohen. "So that, for me, was like the final straw. I was like, 'I can't do this anymore.'"
Luann's Fling with the Mets' Keith Hernandez
In May 2018, New York Mets baseball legend Keith Hernandez stopped by the WWHL clubhouse and spilled some major tea about a past “brief moment” he shared with a pre-Countess Luann.
“I met her in Manhattan somewhere, I forget where, and she was absolutely gorgeous,” Hernandez shared of the fling, which he noted was more of the “friends with benefits” variety. “I chased her like a hound.”
Luann's Ex, Personal Trainer Garth Wakeford
In late 2020, Luann revealed she was dating a South African personal trainer named Garth Wakeford. “He’s a very interesting guy who used to play rugby for England. He’s 6’6’ and tall and blonde and blue-eyed. He’s pretty manly. He’s been in the army and he’s a real guy,” Luann revealed on a November 2020 episode of the Ex Appeal podcast, explaining that she was initially suspicious of Garth’s handsome profile. “I saw the pictures of him and I was like, ‘Oh, he is too good to be true.’”
The pair first hung out on a socially distant coffee date (since it was the height of the COVID-19 pandemic) and Luann was pleasantly surprised. “I said, ‘Oh my god. He’s exactly what he looks like on the app. He’s very tall and he’s handsome. I mean, he looks like a Viking, he’s gorgeous,” she said.
Garth did appear in Season 13 of RHONY, however, by April 2021, the pair had called it quits.
Luann's Relationship with Agent Rich Super
In December 2019, Luann revealed that she had been in a secret relationship with the touring agent for her #CountessandFriends cabaret show, Rich Super, for over a year.
"I just wasn't sure where it was going, so I didn't really talk about it," Luann told ET at the time. "He’s very supportive and he’s just a great touring agent. He’s got really great clients, [internet celebrity] Randy Rainbow being one of them and [Long Island Medium's] Theresa Caputo, who does her live shows. So he’s a great guy and I’m lucky."
Luann's Secret Lover in Mexico
In the summer of 2021, Luann stopped by the WWHL clubhouse and mentioned she was in a relationship with a mystery man. By November of that same year, however, the fling had ended, which she confirmed on a subsequent episode of WWHL.
Luann shared that the man in question was her “lover for the moment” but that the two had a bit of distance between them since he lived in Mexico. Though Luann went on to say her former lover was a “great guy”, and she wouldn’t mind if their paths crossed again, for now, he’s not a “fixed boyfriend” in her life.
