During the "Mom's Night Out" panel on Day 2 of BravoCon 2023, Kate revealed that Southern Charm's Madison LeCroy impacted her decision to have her first child. (For those out of the loop, Madison is the mother of a 10-year-old son, Hudson.)

Madison LeCroy's Role in Kate Chastain Welcoming Her First Child

"I told Madison this backstage, but this is so true. She's the reason I had my son," shared Kate, becoming emotional. "I found out I was pregnant, and I was like 'What am I gonna do?' I saw her on Instagram with her son, and I saw that mother-and-son relationship, and I was like 'I can do this.' She inspired me."

Kate announced her pregnancy in December 2022. During BravoCon 2022, she announced her plan to raise the baby alone.

“I’m doing it solo and perhaps with some help,” she said. “But I’m happy to do it alone.”

A year later, her adorable son is here and she's doing an amazing job with her solo parenting venture. During the panel, she gave more insight into how motherhood is going.

Kate Chastain's Update on Baby Sullivan

"I don't get out a lot. He's only six months old, and they don't warn you: It's a lot of work! And I've done yachting. Just getting out of the house is fun," she said.

Moderated by Daryn Carp, the "Mom's Night Out" interview featured Kate, Madison, Ashley Darby, Rachel Fuda, Jackie Goldschneider, and Whitney Rose. When Daryn asked the women if they were missing their kids, Kate cheekily shook her head.

"My child can't understand [what I'm saying], I don't miss him. I'm having a great time," she said cheekily. After hearing more answers, she added a disclaimer: "I miss him, but I'm having a great time with you guys, too."

During the women's conversation, Kate also noted that her life has changed a lot since welcoming her baby. Today, she spends most of her time at home and "clocks out" for the day at 8 p.m. when Sullivan goes to sleep.

"I thought having a baby would be only slightly more difficult than having a dog," Kate later joked. "It turns out it's a lot harder."
