Pour a gin martini: On day 3 of BravoCon 2023, fans are celebrating Michael Kelcourse, AKA "Michael the Butler." Patricia Altschul's beloved former staffer suffered a spinal cord stroke in February 2021. Though he no longer works for Patricia after the health setback, the two have stayed in constant contact.

On November 5, the Southern Charm matriarch shared the latest news about her old friend during a panel discussion dubbed "It's All About to Go South."

During the discussion at Caesar's Forum in Las Vegas, moderated by Anthony Allen Ramos, the Southern Charm matriarch was asked about her longtime friend. "While I have you, can we get an update on Michael?" Ramos asked. Referencing a scene from Southern Charm Season 9, in which Patricia connected with Michael virtually, he added: "It was so wonderful to see him this season via Zoom ... it was so sweet and we love to see the two of you together in any way."

While wearing her Dolce & Gabana cocktail dress, Patricia responded: "Well, unfortunately, his condition is such that it will never change. It is static. He has a spinal stroke, which is very rare, I think less than one percent of all strokes are that. He is with his family in Sarasota, Florida, and he has to have nursing care. So he's in a facility. But he has learned how to drive manually. And so he gets out and about, we talk all the time, he watches all the shows. He is still as snarky and fun, and has a great attitude."

When asked how Michael feels about the latest season of Southern Charm — and whether he'd made any snarky comments— Patricia smiled. "I don't know," she said. "He might get mad at me if I say all the snarky things that he has said."

On the Season 8 premiere of Southern Charm, Patricia opened up about what it was like to learn about Michael’s medical condition, noting that the news “kind of struck me in the heart.”

“I’m still shocked by the whole thing because he had been with us for 18 years,” she said. “My longest marriage lasted 15 years, so Michael is the most stable relationship I’ve ever had.”

As Michael noted in the comments of Patricia’s Instagram, he misses the family he lived with for nearly two decades. “[Eighteen] years looking after the family went by in a minute. I planned to serve the family till one of us died. But fate had a different plan,” he commented.
