Kary Brittingham Is Engaged to Her Boyfriend of One Year: Get Details on the “Romantic” Proposal

The Real Housewives of Dallas’ Kary Brittingham is officially engaged. 

She revealed in a new interview with People magazine that her boyfriend, Mark A. Anderson, proposed to her during a trip to Tuscany on July 11. 

“I still can’t believe it, I am over the moon,” Kary said. “Even now, all these days later, I’m sitting here, like, shocked that it happened. I feel like I’m in a dream!”

According to Kary, Mark popped the question at a covered bridge at their Italian hotel. “It was the most romantic setting,” she said. “He got down on one knee and started talking, and before he even had a chance to really ask me, I just said, ‘Yes, yes a million times yes!’ I was so happy.”

Per People, Mark proposed to Kary with “a 12-carat ring featuring a 10-carat cushion-cut stone flanked by two 1-carat trapezoid baguettes.”

She joked that the ring “is really insane,” but ultimately “perfect.” 

“And he picked it out himself,” Kary added. “I really had no clue.”

Kary explained that she “actually saw him first” on the dating website, so she liked his photo. “The rest is history,” she said. “He was in Los Angeles at the time, where he has a second home. But we talked on the phone the next day, and then, for like a week straight — every day, nonstop, for four hours on the phone. It was crazy. We had this connection before even meeting in person.”

When the two finally did meet in person, their connection was just as strong. So, in March, Mark sold his Fort Worth home and moved to Dallas to be closer to Kary.

“I can’t even describe to you how similar we are. He’s literally my twin,” Kary said. “I had always thought to myself, ‘I need to date someone younger because I’m so young at heart.’ But he’s almost five years older than me and he’s so young. He has this amazing spirit. He’s just like, ‘Let’s go, go, go!’ And I’m like, ‘That’s me!’ I feel like I’m 22, and he’s like the same way. We’re both fiery! We even have the exact same personality type, out of those 16 personality types. It’s been a lot of fun.”

While Kary and Mark just became engaged, they’re already looking ahead to their big day, which might take place in Italy next summer. As Kary explained, “We got engaged in Tuscany and then he brought me to Lake Como for an engagement honeymoon, which I didn’t even know was a thing. And it was just magical. So Italy has been, for sure, the No. 1 contender.”

In the meantime, Kary will remain “the happiest girl in the world.”

“You know, dating at this age is not easy,” she explained. “When I first separated from my ex-husband, I thought I wanted to be single and was excited to be, but after dating for two years, I was like, ‘I really don’t like to be single!’ I missed having that person, someone to snuggle with and tell ‘I love you’ 100 times a day. And right after I realized that, I met Mark.”

“It really feels like I found a needle in a haystack,” Kary continued. “If I could have put on paper all the things I was looking for in somebody, it’s him. I’m madly in love and just feel so grateful. He says to me all the time, ‘Oh my god, how did I get so lucky?’ And I’m like, ‘How did I get so lucky?’ We’re both very lucky. It’s very sweet.”

On the subject of of Kary's ex-husband, Eduardo Brittingham, fans of The Real Housewives of Dallas may recall that they split shortly before the Season 5 reunion. Kary made the divorce announcement on Instagram alongside a photo of their 16-year-old daughter Isabella, as well as her children from a previous marriage: 25-year-old Sofia, 23-year-old Olivia, and 21-year-old Alex. 

Now, it turns out that Olivia has a connection to Mark's 23-year-old daughter, Turner, from his former marriage. As Kary shared, “Olivia and Turner are exactly one month apart. They have mutual friends and everything. It’s wild!”
