Tom Sandoval Addresses Claims of "Buying" Scheana's "Loyalty" with Thousand-Dollar Loan as VPR Cast Weighs In

Scheana Shay made a big confession about Tom Sandoval during Vanderpump Rules Season 11, Episode 6 on March 5: He loaned her "several thousand dollars" when she was struggling during the pandemic. 

The reveal came during Scheana's conversation with Lala Kent about wanting to forgive Tom, but not if doing so means upsetting Ariana Madix. "I was telling Ariana, I'm like, 'Ariana, do you remember in the pandemic when I had no income and I woke up one day to a massive PayPal from Sandoval?' Because I had no money and I had nothing coming in," Scheana told Lala before elaborating even further in a confessional interview. "During the pandemic, I woke up to several thousand dollars in my account. [Tom] knew I was struggling at the time — my podcast got cancelled, I'm pregnant, I had no income — and he was there for me in a time when no one else was."

Speaking alongside Tom Schwartz on the Vanderpump Rules After Show, Sandoval said he chose to help Scheana out during the pandemic for two simple reasons: "I knew Scheana was struggling with money, and she's my friend."

"I don't want it to be a big deal with her, either," he added. "I want her to literally forget it happened." 

What's more, "I've done many things like that for many people," Sandoval said. "I don't want people to think it's me sort of buying their loyalty or anything like that."

Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney React to Tom Sandoval Giving Scheana Shay Money

Katie Maloney admitted on the Vanderpump Rules After Show that Sandoval helping Scheana out was "really nice" and "a very generous thing to do."

"But at the end of the day, I don't think it really speaks to someone's character and how they're gonna show up," Katie continued. "Like, thanks for the money, but also, you're not a good person. I don't see how that just completely overshadows or outweighs the other damage and bullsh-t." 

Ariana also weighed in, noting, "It's sad, 'cause it feels like because of that, [Scheana] has this feeling of owing him."

"It's leveraging in a way that's not cool," Katie said in agreement.

Tom Schwartz Weighs in on Tom Sandoval Giving Money to Scheana Shay

Ariana and Katie went on to discuss Sandoval's potential motivations for helping Scheana, but Schwartz argued on the Vanderpump Rules After Show that in the grand scheme of things, it doesn't really matter. 

As Schwartz put it, "Say I was down and out and you gave me 10 [thousand dollars] to help me get back above water or something, but you did it just to kind of make yourself feel good because you were feeling guilty about some sort of sh-tty [thing]. Does that make it any less special for me?"

Ultimately, Sandoval concluded of his decision, "I know that what's not as big of a deal for me can make a huge impact on somebody, so why not?"
