Sandoval declared as much while en route to Lake Tahoe with Tom Schwartz, and while he was explaining his newfound optimism for a reconciliation with his former friends — namely, Scheana Shay — he even got emotional.

Sandoval briefly recapped the moment he shared with Scheana on Vanderpump Rules when he told Lisa Vanderpump on a FaceTime call, "Everything's good so far. I got to the airport and saw them sitting at a bar just having food and Scheana's like, 'Hey! We're over here. And I was like 'Woah.' It was very surprising. I was like 'Hey! How's it going?' It was very awesome."

That, and it "felt like a hint of acceptance," Sandoval added in an interview confessional.

On the Vanderpump Rules After Show, both Sandoval and Schwartz revealed even more about the small but meaningful moment. "When we were in the airport waiting to board our flight, I think that was the first time anyone in that group had actually acknowledged Tom as a human being since the affair," Schwartz recalled. "And I think he was super touched by it."

Why Tom Sandoval Got So Emotional During Tahoe Trip

Sandoval was indeed touched. "That moment was so powerful for me," he said on the Vanderpump Rules After Show. "Like, it was so needed."

"Just the casualness, the way Scheana's like, 'Hey, we're over here,' it was something that I never thought I would hear again," a teary-eyed Sandoval added. "I was like, 'Are you talking to me?' ... I just wasn't prepared for that. Like, I don't know. [It was] something I didn't see coming. But yeah, it's something I'll never forget."

Scheana Shay's Reaction to Tom Sandoval Crying Over Their Airport Interaction

Scheana feels a little differently about the moment, though. "We just said 'hi,'" she said on the Vanderpump Rules After Show alongside Lala Kent and James Kennedy. "Instead of ignoring his presence when he's five feet in front of us, I was like, we're all gonna be staying in the same house in a few hours, [so] we just said, 'hi.'"
