Colicchio Wants Italian

Last Chance Kitchen returns with another nail-biting challenge. Following the April 30 episode of Bravo’s Top Chef, two all star chefs battled for a chance to return to the competition.

This week, in a coincidental Top Chef: Kentucky showdown, Eric Adjepong faced off against Nini Nguyen, after failing to successfully carry out the restaurant concept he created that had initially wowed the judges.

“This entire journey has been a sacrifice,” Eric said of the competition. “Not only for myself, but for my wife and my daughter, so I’m ready to scrap. I’m ready to get back into this competition, and take home $250,000 as well.”

Nini was also prepared to win, saying, “I sharpened my knives. I’m ready.”

Host Tom Colicchio explained that the chefs had to create something based on his concept with 30 minutes on the clock. “This challenge is going to be about my vision,” he said. “I have a few restaurants, but I still have a few concepts left in me. So for your challenge, I’m going to pitch you the concept, and you will deliver the plates.”

Tom then urged Nini and Eric to “just wing it the best you can,” in order to create coastal Italian seafood dishes, as neither of them had experience with Italian cuisine.
