Luis “Louie” Ruelas Takes “All the Blame” for His Previous Marriage Breaking Up

Plus, find out all the other personal details RHONJ’s Teresa Giudice’s husband spilled at BravoCon 2022.

By Brad Witter

Long before Luis “Louie” Ruelas formed a “love bubble” with The Real Housewives of New Jersey’s Teresa Giudice, he popped the question to his “high school sweetheart.” During BravoCon 2022’s Jersey Ladies & Their Men: Part 2 panel on Saturday, October 15, the RHONJ newlywed shared some new details about his previous marriage that might surprise you.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of New Jersey Season 14 premiere May 5th at 8/7c on Bravo and stream next day on Peacock.

“I want to clarify one thing: Teresa is the love of my life,” Louie began, before shedding light on the backstory of his past relationship, which was the subject of many questions on RHONJ Season 12. As he explained to the audience, he and his now ex-wife met when he was 13, got married when he was 24, and had kids when he was 27 and 29, before they ultimately divorced when he was 35.

“I’m gonna take all the blame and fault myself, because I woke up when I was about 32, 33, um, dealing with a lot of, like, childhood stuff that goes on,” Louie added.

Nowadays, one of his sons lives with him full-time, while the other splits time between his home and his ex-wife’s. After moving to New Jersey in 2016, he met Teresa, and the rest is history.

Those weren’t the only personal details he shared at BravoCon though. After fans asked Louie to tell them more about himself, Teresa chimed in that he’s Dominican, Mexican, and Puerto Rican. But then Louie took over to share more of his story.

Who Is Teresa Giudice’s husband, Luis “Louie” Ruelas?

Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Louie moved to the New York suburbs “probably around 13 or 14 years old,” he shared with the crowd. He also has two sisters he “adores,” as well as a brother in Florida. When he was 19, the RHONJ husband started a company “in the media field,” which he took public in 2020. “I’ve done a pretty successful career,” he noted.

Something he previously mentioned that didn’t come up during the three-day New York City event, however, is that he had to step down from the company before the RHONJ Season 12 reunion. “Teresa didn’t want me to say this, but they let me go from my company from all the negative stuff that came up in the press because of my exes out there,” he said at the reunion taping. “Yeah, they called me up and said, you know, you have to step down. That really sucked.”

Even so, Louie insisted he doesn’t “have any bad feelings towards anyone” after losing his job. “I just want to move forward in a peaceful manner,” he shared.

Surely, sharing in all the newlywed bliss with Teresa is part of that forward motion too.
