Emily Simpson Shares the Lifestyle Changes That Have Made a "Huge Difference" in Her Health

The Real Housewives of Orange County cast member opened up about her health journey and included details on her diet.

Emily Simpson has made some major lifestyle changes over the past several months. The Real Housewives of Orange County cast member has tweaked her diet and started following a new workout regimen. Emily's wellness journey has her looking happy, healthy, and glowing, and her followers are taking note.

While answering fan questions during an Instagram Q&A on September 2, the mother of three opened up about her fitness. “I’ve always worked out (except while filming [Season 16] I didn’t work out once and I’ll never do that again),” she wrote. “I used to work out 3-4 times a week. I walked a lot. Mostly lifted light weights. Now I work out 6-7 times a week. I always start with 20-30 [minutes] of cardio on the elliptical (level 10) and then about an hour of weight lifting.” In a recent interview, the legal buff shared more about her health journey.

While speaking to The Messenger in September, the RHOC cast member said: "I cut out dairy. I don't drink much alcohol at all. I eat mostly protein. I don't eat late at night. I don't eat fast food really anymore. I eat most meals at home. I cook meals. I am conscientious about what I'm eating. Just those changes made a huge difference." 

The fitness enthusiast added: "I intensified my workouts. I do a lot of heavy lifting now, and I work out seven days a week."

In an Instagram post from September 19, Emily shared more about her health journey. "Around age 42 I gained 40 pounds and it wasn’t until now (age 47) that I was able to finally get it off and feel like my old self again," she shared. "Just to be clear though… I rocked a bathing suit on TV for 5 years and never felt ugly or not confident in myself or my body. Not once."

"I am the strongest (mentally and physically) right now … at age 47 …and I will continue to improve myself daily. My only competition is Me," she wrote in her post.

That said, would Emily ever consider entering a fitness competition like her castmate Tamra Judge? During an Instagram AMA, a fan asked Emily  that very question. "Have you thought about a fitness competition,” they wrote. “Take Tamras crown?” Emily’s responded: “Yes… I’ve pondered it.”

Emily has previously revealed more specifics of her workout routine. "For the past  few months I've been working out 7 days a week on average," she shared in another Instagram AMA, captioning a photo of herself at the gym. "Of course I miss a day here and there, but it's not often."
