Captain Sandy Offers Career Advice for Mila, the Chef She Fired on Below Deck Med
Below Deck Mediterranean's galley has had a revolving door this season.
By now we know that Below Deck Mediterranean will see the return of Chef Ben Robinson — after the Sirocco's rocky run in the galley this season.
First, Captain Sandy Yawn had to fire Chef Mila Kolomeitseva atfer guests complained they didn't like her food. Then she promoted third stew Anastasia Surmava to run things in the galley. When Anastasia stepped down, it became Ben's turn to take over — and for her part, Sandy is downright thrilled to see the return of a chef whose talents make Sandy feel "blown away."
When Sandy originally fired Mila, she said: "As a human being, I have all the compassion in the world. But as a captain, I have to let you go."
She told the Daily Dish podcast earlier in the season, "Chef Cordon Bleu, like come on, Paris-trained. You want to believe people... It was a shock to me."
With some more time to reflect — and now that Ben is back to handle business — Sandy told The Feast the piece of advice she'd offer to Mila.
I think that if she’s passionate about really wanting to become a chef — because clearly she’s not — then pursue that career. And if not, then pursue something that you’re passionate about. That would be my advice to her."
