Ryan: I Am Not a Magician

Ryan opens up about being proud of his team and not wanting to leave NYC, despite Emilia's job offer abroad.

What I'm most proud of building these last seven years in the New York City Real Estate business is a dedicated and successful team of individuals that compliment me in every way. What I've seen these last few episodes is the tenacity and aptitude of my vibrant team of agents. I don't do this alone, and this season has made it abundantly clear. New York can crush anyone. I don't come from the biggest brokerage in town. I chose a boutique firm that fit my specifications.

Watching Olivia, Katherine, Bryan, Yolanda, Brian, Brad - front and center, pooling our resources and making it happen, couldn't make me happier. Yes, I wanted a Young Money party for 157. We talked about it, and it made sense. We drive in the new blood at Uber, and all their friends. Yes, to my party, at night, because I'm clever. I even wore a suit that looked like the falling code in The Matrix. I wanted to be careful and entertain the New Money and figure out who was the baby elephant in the room. Did I end up taking a Bitcoin offer? Yes, yes I did: I'm legally bound to show it all and my entire life revolves around managing expectations.

I am not a magician. I can't force someone to buy something they don't want to buy. My job is to bring buyers to a property and bring offers to the seller. I did that. If the seller doesn't want to sell, in New York, there's nothing I can do. So I make sure that my effort is always made clear, so that if the seller has a change of heart with the listing, they won't confuse the broker with the market. That's what happened here, and I'm ok with it. This is just a business after all.

Now it's time to talk about the explosion that occurred in my living room. This is what I get for cooking dinner. I just can't imagine it. I won't imagine it. Emilia is an executive member of The Serhant Team. She can't leave the board like that, there are repercussions that will affect the global markets. She wants to do international law, I love her for it, but the thought of leaving New York City, just isn't pleasant. I can't show apartments virtually. I can't meet a client for dinner over Skype. We will see how this unfolds.

I'm proud of Fredrik and Luis - both have stepped it up tonight. They roll with the big boys, and they're rewarded in kind. Luis 2.0 wants to make moves, and he learns it comes to you one breath at a time.

So stay with me everyone. Only a few episodes left. What I have now is a group, a force to be reckoned with. I thank those people, The Serhant Team, my family, friends and to all the lasting relationships we're building all around the world. We are the rose that grew from the concrete, and we are now just blooming. I wish you all the best.
