Ben Robinson Says Captain Sandy Yawn Made a "Well Founded" Critique of Hannah Ferrier

The Below Deck Med captain isn't the only one unhappy with the stews this season.

By Laura Rosenfeld

Captain Sandy Yawn came down hard on Hannah Ferrier in the penultimate episode of Below Deck Mediterranean Season 4 Monday night, sharing with the chief stew that she doesn't believe they're on the same page when it comes to their idea of service. While some fans believe Captain Sandy was too harsh on Hannah in this moment, Ben Robinson said he totally agrees with the captain.

"Doesn’t everyone see a theme going on? Bit of a coincidence that both myself and @CaptSandyYawn are unhappy with the interior?" Ben tweeted on Wednesday, September 25. "Sandy is great, just doesn’t like being ignored, and let down..."

When one fan tweeted that Ben and Captain Sandy were "being unreasonable" toward Hannah, the chef said in response, "Okay I understand what are you saying, but @CaptSandyYawn is a fair lady, and has very high standards, we are so lucky to have a captain that’s in the game and realizes room for improvement... Whether the delivery is sound or not, there is still a strong message... Well founded..."

Ben told The Daily Dish earlier in the season that he felt like Hannah "was a little nerve-racked" when he stepped into the galley, feeling like she was on "easy street" when Mila Kolomeitseva was chef. However, he actually thought they got along better than the first time they worked together in Below Deck Med Season 1. "It was good. I think it was almost a bit better than the first time, to be honest," he recalled. "A little bit more of a respect level."

But it was Captain Sandy who Ben said really allowed him to shine this season. "She vocalized that she admired my passion, my work, and she called me her equal. I wasn't her equal actually in terms of rank; it was more her equal as in we share the same amount of passion for our occupation, and that really helped me as well," Ben said. "It's tough, the position of chef is very creative, and no one really understands it other than the chef, so it was nice to see that Sandy actually gets it and was like, 'Listen, this guy, he's gonna do amazing things, and you're gonna help him.' So that's what I was doing."

Ben has more to say about Hannah in the Below Deck Mediterranean Season 4 After Show, above. Look back on Captain Sandy and Hannah's tense moment, below.
