6 Times Bethenny Frankel Wasn't Afraid to Tell It Like It Is on RHONY
"What happened to us? We all went through the Midtown Tunnel and took acid?" Bethenny Frankel has a way with words.
As one of the OG members of The Real Housewives of New York City, Bethenny Frankel has been in our lives for years. Over the past 10 seasons, the Skinnygirl mogul has seen her career explode, found love (and heartbreak), and experienced her fair share of friendship drama. So when you're as seasoned as Bethenny, you aren't afraid to call it like you see it.
In honor of the new season of RHONY that's just around the corner, we're revisiting all of Bethenny's sassiest, most iconic moments over the past 11 years. (And don't forget, you can also catch up on all of Season 10 of RHONY right here.) But before you start binge-watching, keep scrolling to relive all the times Bethenny wasn't afraid to tell it like it is.
Who wants to look like this person?
While out to lunch with Ramona Singer, Bethenny wasn't too keen on a magazine ad of a woman who was showing off her oiled-up physique in a red body suit, saying, "Who wants to look like this person?" It took about two seconds for her to realize it was actually Ramona, who was "lubed up like basted turkey." Oops!
She's rabid, like a dog in heat
When planning a Skinnygirl event, Bethenny knew that she needed to please Ramona, Luann de Lesseps and Sonja Morgan... by having good looking men in the room, of course. "They have expectations and I want to make sure they have something to look at," she said. But, unfortunately for Bethenny, these ladies aren't so easy to please. She went off about their high expectations for their men, especially Ramona's, saying, "She's rabid, like a dog in heat."
You are a cheater brand
After Bethenny's Skinnygirl success, Sonja couldn't help but get inspired to launch her own side hustle, too. But after she took advice from the seasoned entrepreneur, Sonja's own brand began to resemble Bethenny's a little too much. Bethenny was upset when Sonja rolled out "Tipsy Girl" Prosecco, along with a website that had the same colors as Skinnygirl's. Their discussion heated up when Bethenny called Tipsy Girl a "cheater brand" and said that she was "completely insulted" and didn't want anything to do with Sonja.
This is the happy hour of the Upper East Side
If you're going to see Bethenny out and about in the Big Apple, it won't be at a tea party. When she and a friend got dressed up for an afternoon of drinks and finger food, she was more interested in spilling the tea than drinking it. "I've never been to a tea party before... who does anything in the afternoon? This is like the happy hour of the Upper East Side... the whole crusty vagina crowd is up here at 3 o'clock in the afternoon dressed in pastels and florals."
Karma's a bitch and she always shows up — even in Mexico
No Housewives trip is complete without a few fights, especially when it comes time to pick rooms. The RHONY ladies are notorious for bickering over who gets the room with the view and who gets to stay with their friends, so Bethenny devised a plan to stop them all from fighting: They picked numbers out of a bowl to decide who would pick first. And after Ramona began complaining about her number (which was 7 out of 8) Bethenny quipped, "That's how it's gonna go, sweetie pie. Fair and square."
What happened to us? We all went through the Midtown Tunnel and took acid?
When the ladies left Manhattan for an evening in the Hamptons, their fashion choices took a turn for the weird. Carole Radziwill wore a sheer body suit with tattoo prints under a black romper, Luann chose to wear a hot pink turtleneck with a feathered neck and Dorinda Medley went with an all-leather ensemble. According to Bethenny, "Sonja looks like half a whore, too, but she looks the best out of all of us." She continued to rant about their fashion faux pas, saying, "What happened to us? We all went through the Midtown Tunnel and took acid? Carole, what the f--k are you wearing? Luann, what the f--k are you wearing? Ramona, what the f--k are you wearing? And Bethenny, what the f--k am I wearing?"
