Was Brittany Surprised By Michelle and Jesse's Split? "We Deserve to Be Happy"
Brittany Cartwright teased fans will see why Jesse and Michelle Saniei Lally are "where they are" on The Valley.
Fans were stunned when Jesse Lally and Michelle Saniei Lally announced their split just days before The Valley premiere, but there’s one person with insider knowledge who wasn’t surprised.
Brittany Cartright confessed on the After Show of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on April 2 that she saw the writing on the wall before the news ever went public.
“I think that you’ll see on The Valley why they are where they are,” Brittany revealed. “I think that Michelle is so much happier now and I’m all for happiness, like we deserve to be happy, you know?”
Why did Jesse and Michelle Lally break up on The Valley?
While neither Jesse nor Michelle has given a reason for the split, Jesse himself hinted to US Weekly while confirming the breakup that viewers will see the marriage struggles play out in the new series.
“There’s a major storyline about our life where I try to work on myself throughout the entire summer to be the best version of myself,” Jesse said. “And if the best version of myself aligned with the best version of herself, then our marriage would make it. People evolve. If your marriage and relationship doesn’t evolve with it, it will never work, no matter how bad you want it.”

The luxury real-estate agent added that having a child during the pandemic only put more strain on the marriage. Their 3-year-old daughter, Isabella, was born in April of 2020.
“It was very hard to have your first kid during the pandemic…mid-lockdown, no nannies, no grandparents helping out,” he said. “It takes a toll on the couple in that situation.”

The Lallys' crumbling marriage wasn’t the only topic of discussion on the After Show. Brittany — who admitted her return to reality television caught her by surprise after leaving Vanderpump Rules — also weighed in on her own marital woes.
She and husband Jax Taylor announced in February that they were taking time apart to re-evaluate their union. With the couple’s future still up in the air, host Andy Cohen admitted he wasn’t sure where he saw the couple’s relationship going.
“I can’t decide, I can’t figure out what’s going to happen here,” he told Brittany.
“Well, you know I love him,” Brittany replied, giving Jax and Brittany fans a glimmer of hope that these two may work it out.
But as Andy was quick to point out, love isn’t always the only factor necessary for a successful relationship.
“I know you love him, but you seem very strong,” he said.
Brittany added that her perspective on the marriage has shifted after becoming a mother to her 2-year-old son, Cruz.
“I’ve grown up a lot,” she said. “Let me tell you after having a son, it changed everything. I always say it was just like a veil was lifted and I just noticed everything.”
Regardless of what the future holds for Jax and Brittany, the Kentucky native said she’s been feeling the love from fans since moving out on her own.
“You have a lot of support from everybody,” Andy told her.
“I feel it,” Brittany said. “I feel it.”
