Brittany Cartwright Says Jax Taylor Isn't "Really Trying" to Fix Their Marriage
The Valley mom says her husband needs to change "some things about his life" if he wants to repair their relationship.
Brittany Cartwright doesn’t know if her marriage can be fixed.
Just days after confirming her separation from Jax Taylor, The Valley mom spoke candidly about their marital rift and revealed if she was open to taking her husband back.
“Listen, I love Jax so much. I really do,” she told TMZ on Friday, March 1. “I just want the best for me and my son at this point. So that’s like my main focus. But for sure, if he switches some things and changes some things about his life, then maybe we can get back together. But right now, I don’t know.”

Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor Are "Taking Time Apart" as She Moves "Into Another Home"
Brittany Cartwright alludes to marital issues with Jax Taylor
Brittany and Jax began dating in 2015, months before the premiere of Vanderpump Rules Season 4. The series documented all the ups and downs of the couple’s relationship, including infidelity scandals, a messy breakup, and a reconciliation that led to an engagement. They eventually tied the knot in the summer of 2019 and welcomed their first child together — a son named Cruz — less than two years later.
Brittany alluded to her recent relationship struggles in a February episode of When Reality Hits, a popular podcast series she co-hosts with Jax. The mother of one dismissed circulating rumors about her marriage but suggested there was trouble in paradise.
“People go through ups and downs all the time and it’s completely normal,” she said. “Sometimes people might need their space, sometimes they won’t. I just think that the media takes things and runs with it without knowing the true facts.”
Brittany Cartwright moves out of her and Jax Taylor's home
About a week after the episode, Brittany revealed she had moved into another house as she and her hubby were “taking time apart.” Jax attempted to clarify his wife’s comments during an interview with Page Six, claiming the move was only temporary and Brittany was now back at their Valley Village abode.
“We’re actually together in our home right now,” he said. “She was in a house for a while, but, yeah, she’s back now.”
The former SUR bartender also said their separation was “not a divorce,” nor was it “evil” or shrouded in “nastiness.” He said they were simply taking some time to “reassess” the years-long relationship and figure out their next steps.
“We have a child involved and we just wanna do what’s best for our kid,” Jax continued.
Brittany Cartwright says Jax Taylor has failed to make changes
While speaking to TMZ last week, Brittany was asked what steps — if any — she and Jax were taking to fix their marriage.
“It’s Jax, so he’s not really trying that much right now,” she revealed. “I mean, I’ve asked him for a while to do certain things and nothing has come from that yet. We’ve been together for nine years now, so…”
Brittany Cartwright pushes back against "publicity stunt" claims
Brittany was also asked about her decision to move out of her house, which some critics waved off as a “publicity stunt.”
“Absolutely not. This is definitely for my mental health,” she said about the move, suggesting she was still living separately from Jax. “I think that’s been one of the hardest parts right now is that people are speculating that I’m doing something for this show (The Valley) coming out.”
She continued: “No. Whenever you fight with somebody for so long, there’s only so much you can take and, you know, I deserve better, Cruz deserves better. We want a good co-parenting relationship and I think that me moving out and taking space to figure out if this is what I want is the best situation for me right now.”
What's next for Brittany Cartwright and Jax Taylor?
Although uncertainly looms over her marriage, Brittany made it clear she and Jax would co-parent their son and continue to work on their joint business ventures, including the aforementioned podcast and their Studio City sports bar.
"We have businesses together; that's very important," she said. "Podcast is still happening, our bar is still happening, the show is still happening. It's just a lot going on right now."
While there are many unanswered questions surrounding the couple's split, Brittany said fans will soon learn more in The Valley, an upcoming reality series that will explore their post-Vanderpump Rules life.
“I think, gradually, people will be able to see, throughout the season, why we end up where we are right now,” she said.
The Valley is set to premiere this spring on Bravo. You can get a first look at the series above.
