Brittany Cartwright Sounds Off on Rumors Her and Jax's Split Is a "Publicity Stunt”

The Valley cast member is sounding off on her split from husband, Jax Taylor, and clearing up all of *those* rumors.

Brittany Cartwright hasn't been afraid to clear the air about her split from husband, Jax Taylor, after sharing news of their separation in late February.

The Valley cast members and parents to son, Cruz, first announced that they were separating and living in different homes at the end of February. In a podcast episode, released before The Valley premiered, Brittany revealed that they would be taking this time apart from one another to "reevaluate" their relationship and get some much needed space.

While some people were surprised by this announcement, others, like Vanderpump Rules cast member, Katie Maloney, was not. During a recent appearance on the Reality Mums podcast, Brittany acknowledged that her and Jax's separation might have come out of left field, for some. But, she reiterated that this is a very serious separation between them.

During the March 28 episode of Reality Mums, Brittany admitted that people doubting the legitimacy of the separation from her husband was "one of the roughest things." "Like, I'm already going through a lot, and then people were speculating I was putting on a publicity stunt whenever I feel like I have always shown my character," she said.

"I felt like people should just know that I wouldn't do something like that, especially for my son, Cruz," she added. "Like, I would never put him through something like this if it wasn't real. And I think that that was super hurtful for me that people thought that was what was happening."

During the podcast, Brittany revealed that "things got worse" for her and Jax as a couple once The Valley cameras stopped rolling. Once she started posting to her Instagram Story with less Jax, her followers began to suspect something was amiss. "The only reason I feel like I had to come out and say that we were separated was because the Instagram sleuths, you know, like the little detective everywhere, started finding out that I was staying in a different house because I was posting photos at a different home...and people started putting it together, you know, this isn't Brittany's house," she said.

When the rumors "started going crazy," Brittany and Jax decided it was time to finally release a statement. "I would rather have the truth out there than all of these rumors, spiraling," she said.

During the episode of Reality Mums, Brittany revealed that she was the person who decided to put the separation between her and Jax in motion, but it wasn't easy for her. Brittany cited their 2-year-old son, Cruz, as a reason behind the split.

"It was a very, very hard decision," she said. "But at the same time, I think having Cruz also woke me up a little bit, like, lifted a veil and made me realize like, 'Oh my god, he's talking to me like that?'...I felt like, very taken for granted in a lot of situations and I think it kind of made me realize, like, I don't want Cruz to grow up thinking this is normal, or that this is OK how to treat your wife."

In spite of it all, Jax and Brittany have still remained as a united front for Cruz over the past month, celebrating the holidays, attending Cruz's soccer practice, and going on family outings together, as a family of three. This is because both Jax and Brittany have reiterated that their son is their number one priority as they continue their separation. "We have a child involved and just wanna do what's best for our kid," Jax told Page Six.
