Is Katie Maloney-Schwartz Really a "Bully?" Scheana Shay Weighs In

Scheana Shay reacted to the heated Vanderpump Rules moment between Tom Sandoval and Katie Maloney-Schwartz.

By Laura Rosenfeld

We never saw this drama coming on Vanderpump Rules. After Katie Maloney-Schwartz said that James Kennedy had to be uninvited from the gang's trip to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Tom Sandoval called the SURver a "bully." Sandoval said he especially felt this way in light of Katie asking Lisa Vanderpump to let James go after he made some comments about her during SUR's gay pride celebration earlier this season. He also said Katie has acted cruelly toward Lala Kent and even her husband, Tom Schwartz, in the past.

How to Watch

Watch Vanderpump Rules on Bravo Tuesdays at 8/7c and next day on Peacock. Catch up on the Bravo app.

But what do the other SURvers think of Sandoval's assessment of Katie? Scheana Shay gave her take on the situation when she appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen Monday night. "No, I think you know James insulted her, she fought back, and I don't think that was a bully move," she explained. "I think she's been a bully in the past, but not currently, no."

In fact, it seems that the majority of the Vanderpump Rules crew agrees with Scheana. Everyone from Lala to Stassi Schroeder to even Jax Taylor defended Katie's attitude toward James this season during the Vanderpump Rules Season 7 After Show, which you can check out, above.

Katie also opened up more in the After Show about why her past tension with Lala is different from how she's been treating James. "Listen, Lala and I went for each other," she said. "And I regret those things, I've atoned for them, and I've apologized, talked to Lala on more than one occasion and told her that was wrong of me and have never, ever said that again."

However, Sandoval still feels like there's a bit of a double standard at SUR. "There was a point in time, no offense, Schwartz, where Katie was very aggressive and angry and not happy. But she never apologized. She went like a long, long, long time without apologizing and then eventually just apologized at the end," he said during the After Show. "But I feel like if James did that, it wouldn't be so on the spotlight. And I do, honestly, I do think he's held to different standards than other people."
