Tom Schwartz Wants to "Clear Things Up" About His Relationship with Jo Wenberg

On a Season 10 episode of Vanderpump Rules, Tom Schwartz revealed to Scheana Shay that his friend Jo was staying with him in his new apartment, leading fans — and some of Tom's castmates — to wonder about his relationship with the hairstylist. 

Although Tom told Scheana at the time that he and Jo were just friends, he later admitted in Part 1 of the Season 10 reunion, “It did evolve into a situationship, or like a friends-with-benefits thing with clearly defined boundaries."

"We were both coming out of long-term relationships," he added. "For a minute there, we were each other’s happy place.”

Tom Schwartz gives an update on his relationship with Jo Wenberg

Tom gave a new update on his relationship with Jo in Season 11, Episode 4 of Vanderpump Rules, when Jo came to his apartment to give him a haircut. 

"The entire group thinks you're my secret roommate/girlfriend," Tom told Jo. "I mean, we did spend a lot of time together last summer, so I get the optics of it." However, Jo noted, "We still do."

In an interview during the episode, which aired on February 20, Tom shared more about his relationship with Jo who he called "a light in my life."

"I want to clear things up. Jo was never living with me," he said. "Was she staying with me sporadically? Yes. She's not my girlfriend, she never was. We had, like, the whirlwind romance, but we're buds now."

On the February 20 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, which aired after Vanderpump Rules, the host asked Tom on behalf of a viewer at home, "Why did you say Jo was never your girlfriend but that you had a whirlwind romance?"

With a sigh, Tom admitted he gave "maybe mixed signals there a little bit." 

"We had a lightning-in-a-bottle situation for a while there, and I don't know if it was sustainable given my mental state of being," he continued. "I don't know if I was equipped to be in a committed conventional relationship."

According to a first look at Vanderpump Rules Season 11, viewers will see more from Jo in future episodes. In the preview of the season, Tom Schwartz screams, "This is my friend Jo. She's hot." However, things seem to take a turn as Jo asks Tom in a different scene, "Are you embarrassed by me?" 

Viewers will also see the moment Tom debuted his blonde hair. In August 2023, Tom revealed that Jo helped him with his temporary hair transformation, writing in an Instagram post, "Thank you for the new [’do.]"
