As Ariana Madix and Katie Maloney work to open their sandwich shop, Something About Her, they have experienced a range of setbacks, mainly related to permits. However, on Season 11, Episode 5 of Vanderpump Rules, they shared details of an unexpected incident on their patio.

"It sounded like this morning was very eventful," Ariana said to Katie. "I missed Penny's call, but I saw her text about the poop."
Yes, you read that correctly. "I don't want to say that things at the restaurant the restaurant are sh-tty right now, but someone did just poop on our patio," Ariana explained in an interview during the episode, which aired on February 27.
That incident aside, Ariana explained that in general, "This patio has really held things up." Katie agreed, noting, "It's held up any kind of permit that we could obtain to open."

In the Vanderpump Rules Season 11 After Show, Katie and Ariana shared more details on their frustrating journey to opening the sandwich shop. "The health department, they're on their own time, calendar, everything," Katie said. "These are things we kind of knew, but you can't really fully understand until you're in it. They give you a list of things you gotta fix, and then they come back, and then there's other things you gotta fix, and it just becomes like splitting hairs."
"If it [were] up to us, we would've been open," Katie added. "None of these things are in our hands. We're at the mercy of other people."
In conclusion, Katie shared, "All we're waiting for is health [permits], and that's the main thing that we need."
Did Katie Maloney and Ariana Madix get their permits for Something About Her?
On a February episode of The Nikki & Brie Show podcast, Katie had good news to share: "Finally, we do have all the permits that we needed in order to get the final one.
"We just needed all those physical copies before they would come out and do the final walkthrough that we need," she continued. “I can see the light at the end of the tunnel, and it’s just having to be patient... We just had to be patient and just kind of like roll with the punches and just like, take things as they come and just kind of get it done."
She added, "You want to make sure that you’re doing everything that’s required of you. You don’t wanna get fined. You don’t want to go through all this just to close. It would be awful.”
Now that they are one step closer to opening, Katie shared, “It is not easy, but we’re so excited. It’s gonna be so great."
