Kathryn C. Dennis and Patricia Altschul Have the Sassiest Clapback to Stephen Colbert's Shade of Southern Charm
Don't mess with Charleston.
We actually found someone who's not absolutely obsessed with Southern Charm like the rest of us. (It's hard to believe, we know.) Stephen Colbert, who grew up in Charleston, revealed why he's not such a big fan of the show when he appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Sunday, August 12. You can find out more about his issues with Southern Charm by checking out the above clip.
But one of Colbert's main issues with the show is that he doesn't believe the Southern Charm crew is actually from Charleston. When Andy Cohen corrected him and said that yes, in fact, many of them are native to the area, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert host couldn't be convinced. "I want to see the long-form birth certificates," he joked on WWHL.
Well, Kathryn C. Dennis had something to say about that. The Southern Charm mom can actually prove that she is a true Charlestonian. "My birth certificate says I was 100% born in Charleston," she tweeted in response to Colbert's request on WWHL.
In fact, pretty much all of the Charmers are from South Carolina or North Carolina, with the exception of Craig Conover, who originally hails from Delaware. Patricia Altschul broke it down like this for Colbert on Twitter. "Let me put this in perspective.. the show is called #SouthernCharm not Charleston charm," she explained. "We are all from the south except @C_Conover."
