Did Someone from the Below Deck Crew Inspire Captain Lee Rosbach to Fire Chandler Brooks?

Did Someone from the Below Deck Crew Inspire Captain Lee Rosbach to Fire Chandler Brooks?

"It was like I ordered the execution," the Season 6 yachtie said.

The time came for the M/Y Seanna crew to say goodbye to Chandler Brooks on Below Deck. Captain Lee Rosbach handed the bosun his plane ticket home in the most recent episode last Tuesday night.

This season of Below Deck hadn't exactly been a pleasure cruise for Chandler. In fact, he clashed with the majority of the M/Y Seanna crew members, from the deckhands to the stews. But was there one person in particular who set Chandler's dismissal in motion?

Kate Chastain thinks she may have had something to do with it. As Below Deck fans may recall, the night before Chandler was let go, Kate expressed to Captain Lee Rosbach that "something needs to happen" after the most chaotic day of the season that ended with the interior team cleaning up a beach party by themselves in the dark and one young charter guest "bweeding" after cutting his foot on broken glass.

So when Captain Lee asked Kate to be "a witness" to Chandler's firing, she said it felt "extra awkward." "I had to sit there and act like, 'I don't know what's happening. I'm just here watching.' And I was the one who told Captain Lee the night before to do it," she said during the Below Deck After Show (clip above). "It was like I ordered the execution, and I had to be like, 'Preference sheet meeting?'"

Actually, Captain Lee had various reasons for letting Chandler go that didn't have to do with Kate. "It's kind of a feeling you get that you just know things are not getting better. And Chandler felt like he wasn't given enough respect, which he demanded," he said during the Below Deck After Show. "You want my respect? Earn it. You earn respect by doing the right thing, you earn it by leading, you earn it by using your brains more than your mouth. You need to put your brain in gear before you open your mouth."

All in all, Captain Lee said that getting rid of Chandler was what was best for the entire M/Y Seanna crew at the time. "Morale at this point sucks, the team's not performing like I have to have them perform, and the one common thread through all of it is Chandler," he explained. "Let's give morale a boost. We'll get rid of the thorn that's sitting in the lion's foot. Lion's gonna feel better, I'm gonna feel better, and everybody's gonna be happier."

Of course, Chandler's deck team also had A LOT to say about his firing, especially his frequent adversary Rhylee Gerber. But Ashton Pienaar thinks someone else should have been let go instead. Check out all of that and much more in the clips from the Below Deck After Show, above.
