We Tasted the Mystery OREO Flavor at Bravo HQ and We're 90% Sure We Have It Right
We put our heads together to crack the case of the 2019 Mystery OREO flavor — and we have a very good feeling about this.
The Real Housewives of Orange County alum Heather Dubrow did it. Supermodel and RHOBH daughter Bella Hadid did it. Everyone who's anyone is doing it — so, naturally, we had to do it too. Of course, we are talking about taste testing the Mystery OREO flavor for 2019.
The package containing a box of this year's Mystery OREO cookies, addressed to me as BravoTV.com's food editor, arrived to Bravo's Los Angeles HQ in Universal City. It was marked "TOP SECRET." Intriguing!
Inside, we got a package of the cookies and one clue on the back of the pack: pairs well with chocolate.
I took the first bite and got an unmistakable note of cinnamon. Bravo's digital video team gathered around and tasted, also registering the cinnamon. Maybe horchata? (Does horchata pair with chocolate?) No, it was cinnamon graham crackers, we eventually concluded.
Intern Marlon DeSilva thought he tasted marshmallow, which dovetailed well enough to help us put the pieces together, and we were almost ready to guess conclusively: Cinnamon Graham Cracker S'mores.
But wait... there's more. (Or there s'more, if you will.) Freelance editor/producer Lauren Longoria came by for a late taste. "Yeah, I'm getting graham crackers... Oh! It tastes like a Teddy Graham!" And she felt pretty sure about that because, "I used to eat those like a mo-fo." (Same, Lauren.)
That's when Sr. Multimedia Producer Peter Yoo hopped on Google to confirm that yes, indeed Teddy Grahams are also Nabisco — same as OREO's parent company, and therefore a logical brand synergy.
That led us to our final answer: The 2019 Mystery OREO flavor is Cinnamon Teddy Graham S'Mores. We feel really, really good about that. I'm like 90 percent sure, in fact — and yes, I already registered our answer on the official sweepstakes site, lest anyone try to steal it. (I also bought a lottery scratcher to cover my bases just in case that $50,000 doesn't come through for the correct Mystery OREO guess.)
Now, if you're in the area, drop by my desk and help yourself to what remains of the box! (I'm cutting myself off.)
