"We were close when we met on the show," Carole recently explained on The Jenny McCarthy Show. "I would consider her a good friend and had up until the last season."

By then, their usual genial dynamic was different somehow and had morphed into something bordering on antagonistic. Sometimes, friends just stop liking each other and that can be healthy to acknowledge, process, and move on. But Carole has other theories on what happened.

"I was a very good friend to [Bethenny]. That's all I'm going to say," she said. "I supported her in her charities, I gave her a lot of money… I really cared about her... I was just being a really good friend to her. I think I was trying to establish some boundaries at the end and sometimes people don't do well with that."

Ultimately, Carole decided, "It was just a little too much Bethenny and not enough Carole in the relationship."

The two did recently run into each other at a charity event, Bethenny explained on WWHL. "I saw her at the bar, we had a conversation, you know, we talked about [Carole's ex-boyfriend] Adam [Kenworthy] and just life and it was nice."

It sounds like the friendship break has done them both some good.
