Sai De Silva Shows Why Brooklyn Is the Place to Be During Home Tour

The great outdoors is hard to come by in the Big Apple, but Sai De Silva shows why Brooklyn has the advantage over Manhattan during a tour of her home.

By Caitlin Schunn

Brooklyn is back on the map, thanks to new Housewife Sai De Silva. No one has repped the borough on The Real Housewives of New York City since OG Alex McCord, who left the show more than a decade ago.

Sai told Brooklyn Magazine she was born and raised there, and after moving around in her 20s, she came back to Brooklyn because it “always had my heart.” She described the benefits of living there, saying, “It’s right by the city so I can easily hop back and forth, and the neighborhood is trendy while still having a small-town feel.”

During a recent tour of her townhouse, the RHONY Season 14 cast member added, “I’m very excited to have you guys here because there is more to New York than just Manhattan.”

White cabinets, white countertops — the color palate is clear in Sai’s kitchen. But the neutral tones in the downstairs living area make for a clean and inviting look, helped along by the open floor plan. The kitchen is complete with bar stools by the large island, which her kids use frequently.

“When I’m cooking, the kids can kind of sit up here,” she said during the tour. “This is where the majority of the time we’re eating.”

Her living room off the kitchen has a few more pops of color with artwork and plants, and also features a large mirror standing against a wall. There’s plenty of light, with an entire wall taken up with glass doors and windows to the outdoors.

The soothing tones continue upstairs in Sai’s bedroom, which features a white bed, white curtains, a white rocking chair, and a silver dresser. A massive decorated mirror also stands against a wall.

But it’s Sai’s closet that’s the real stunner upstairs, giving off true Carrie Bradshaw vibes. The large walk-in connects the bedroom to the bathroom, and true to Sex and the City form, lots of shoes are visible, as well as sunglasses and shelves for purses (we also spotted a Dior shopping bag!).

The best part? She doesn’t share the closet with her husband, David.

“I could not fit him in, so I’m sorry, honey,” Sai said during the tour.

It remains a mystery where David keeps his clothes.

BuzzFeed named Sai as one of the best Latinx fashion and beauty influencers in 2021 for her fashion blog, Scout in the City. So, it makes sense the Housewife has a huge office on the third floor of her townhouse.

“This is how your girl pays the bills,” she said during the tour.

Sai first got into blogging for an outlet when she was working as a PR intern for Alberta Ferretti, and then turned into something she could do with her daughter, London Scout. BuzzFeed picked up on the blog, and it became a career.

That career is certainly evident in her office, as racks of clothes are displayed, as well as shelves full of products. The big, open room has tons of windows and light — something Sai said she needs for her pictures and videos.

Although the rest of her townhouse is certainly impressive, the pièce de resistance is the outdoor space. The first is the glass doors off Sai’s family room to a deck.

“Usually in the summer we have these doors wide open, and we eat outside, and it’s just very beautiful to have this deck,” she said in the tour. “And, because I am in Brooklyn, I have more space.”

A tree certainly grows in Brooklyn — right in Sai’s backyard, which also has fenced-in green space — an absolute rarity in New York City.

To top it off, Sai not only has coveted outdoor space, but views from her rooftop deck.

“This is our view,” she said in the tour while showing off the city in the background. “It just never, ever, ever gets old. And from here I look upon this small city and I say, ‘If only those people moved to Brooklyn.’”
