Lisa joined The Real Housewives of Miami in its second season, which premiered in September of 2012. Her catchphrase in the series intro was, "My husband's a top plastic surgeon in this town, and I am his best creation."

For her third season, she changed it up: "Everyone loves to underestimate me, and I love to prove everyone wrong."

Lisa Hochstein's infertility struggles

For the next two seasons, the couple openly shared their struggles with infertility as they tried to start a family.

In April 2013, she told YourTango the couple was “actively still trying IVF.”

“We're hoping that this time around, we'll have a good outcome and have a little baby boy or girl,” she said. “These things take time, and I've talked to many women and I've realized that we're not alone. A lot of women have tried countless times and eventually it happens for them, so I like to keep that in the back of my mind. It helps me stay positive to know that other people are going through the same thing.”

She also expressed concerns about the impact on her marriage if she couldn’t conceive.

“I'm not speaking for everyone, but many times men ultimately get married because they want to start that family,” she said. “Although Lenny has never voiced that he would leave me, I know it's a very important thing for himself and myself to have children, so who knows later on in life? People change, relationships change.”

Lisa shared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen in January of 2022 — after RHOM kicked off its 4th season — that the couple had briefly split up in 2013 and “almost got a divorce” because of the stress of trying to start a family.

“It was devastating,” she said.

Lisa also confessed that Lenny had an “emotional affair” with another woman during the split, before they decided to reconcile.

“So when he saw that I was serious, and I was done, he came groveling back," she said. "He came back, and it was the best decision of his life."

Lisa described her son to The Daily Dish as “truly a miracle.”

"The first moment I held my son was absolutely surreal. It's almost as if he had such a calming presence. He was so calm and just looked at me, and I was nervous," she said in another interview with The Daily Dish. "You know, I didn't carry him and all of a sudden, I have my son in my arms — and I've waited so long to have that moment. I was crying, I was shaking, overjoyed. And he wasn't crying, he just looked at me."

"I spent the whole entire night holding him on my chest; it was beautiful," she said of his first night. "I'm completely obsessed and in love."

In March 22, Lisa was feeling optimistic about the couple’s marriage.

“I definitely feel like we are a success story,” she told Us Weekly. “Because we decided to work through our issues and we didn’t wanna give up and thank God we did because we have our two children that I couldn’t imagine life without. I’m happy. And I hope that other people can be inspired by that and not give up so easily because I feel like we live in a world where people give up way too easily. Divorce is, you know, like an option [but] it shouldn’t be an option, like unless something really horrible is happening.”

When did Lisa and Lenny Hochstein split up?

Just two months later — on May 11. 2022 — the couple sparked divorce rumors after Lenny showed up at a Miami nightclub with Austrian model Katharina Mazepa, according to People. Lisa showed up at the same club an hour later with Housewife Larsa Pippen by her side.

Five days later, Lenny told to Page Six that the couple were calling it quits.

“Lisa and I are getting divorced,” he told the outlet. “A few weeks ago, I denied this because, because I am trying my best to protect my family during this process. This is a very difficult time, and I would ask for some privacy so that we can best take care of our children who mean the world to us.”

By August 2022, the former couple's contentious divorce was heating up. According to People, Lisa filed court documents claiming she was being “financially strangled” by Lenny and alleged that he “retaliates” against her by “restricting [her] access to funds” when she didn’t give into his demands.

In a statement to the news outlet, Lenny fought back against the claims.

"Lisa uses these court filings to portray me poorly in the press,” he said. "The fact is that I pay for everything for the children separately. Lisa still lives in the home with the children without a single expense."

Larsa Pippen Reveals that She and Lenny Had an Off-Camera Confrontation

Although Lisa didn’t know it at the time, Lenny had talked about being unhappy in his marriage as the cameras rolled during Season 5.

Lenny was caught on audio during the couple's “Good Vibes” party — which became part of Season 5, Episode 4 — confiding in a friend that he wanted to get a divorce.

A heartbroken Lisa said she never knew her husband had felt that way, until she saw the episode as it aired on Dec. 8, 2022.

“It was so heartbreaking, and it made me so angry that he was just so cold about it,” she told The Daily Dish days later. “It didn’t seem like he cared at all; [there was] almost like hate in his voice. It wasn’t like, ‘Yeah, I feel bad, we’re maybe going to get a divorce.’ It was like, ‘Nope, can’t wait’ and that sort of thing. That was really hurtful, because I did not know.”

Lisa and Lenny Hochstein's Co-Parenting Challenges

During a December 2022 appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Lisa admitted it had been a tumultuous year for the family and noted her children had picked up on the changes at home.

“I’m trying my best to just make this transition for them [as] easy as possible. But they’re smart, and they see that things are different,” Lisa later told The Daily Dish. “Look, I’m not the first person to get divorced, [and] I’m not going to be the last. It’s very sad, but we’ll get through it. A lot of kids go through it, and they come out fine.”

According to Lisa, it had been a challenge to find common ground with her ex.

“The biggest challenge, I feel like, is going to be co-parenting, because we’re not in a good space right now,” she said. “My hope is, eventually, we’ll get to that space where we can, I don’t know, even one day be friends. But it’s so ugly right now. It’s just not good.”

During the RHOM panel at BravoCon 2023, Lisa revealed that her and Lenny are still going through divorce proceedings and it’s “actually worse” than it was in the beginning. “I really don’t speak to Lenny so much and I prefer not to,” she said.

Although she was once optimistic about them being able to move past their differences, Lisa said that she no longer believes that possible.

“I used to think we could maybe get past this and one day maybe be friends and be able to co-parent amicably but he is making it so, so difficult,” she revealed. “It’s one of the hardest challenges I’m facing in my life right now. Everything is a fight, everything is a call to a lawyer, nothing is easy.”

Lisa also told fans at BravoCon 2023 that the best thing to come out of her divorce was finding Jody, and she’s now she’s “possibly” thinking about marriage in the future. “I mean if Jody, I don’t know, we’ll see,” she joked.

“I mean, engaged, married, sometimes just having, you know, a very long engagement can be nice, too, 'cause I like the — I like the word, I like the word, to be like a fiancée,” she added. “I don’t really want to be a girlfriend. I feel like hmmm — girlfriend.”

“I want a ring again," she said. "Another ring.”

She explained that the two have started their own business, Splitwell.com, to help others that are struggling with their own divorces. “Jody and I, we are launching a platform to help other women, other people get through these really hard times and try to save costs on their divorce,” she said during the panel. “Get them through their divorce fast and just help other people.”

“It’s almost like a calling," she added. "It’s like something I’m meant to do on this earth."
