Taylor, Shep, Austen, and Olivia Reveal What Went Down in Their Relationships Before Season 9

Here's what you missed in between Seasons 8 and 9 of Southern Charm.

By Allison Crist

Shep Rose and Taylor Ann Green, as well as fellow former couple Austen Kroll and Olivia Flowers, didn't exactly end in a good place when the Southern Charm Season 8 reunion concluded.

What's more, both pairs were still at odds on the Southern Charm Season 9 premiere, which aired September 14. But what exactly went down in the time between then and now?

To find out, keep scrolling.

Austen Kroll and Olivia Flowers' Relationship

As Southern Charm fans may recall, Austen shared in Part 1 of the Season 8 reunion that he and Olivia ultimately called off their relationship out of fear of jeopardizing their friendship.

However, Olivia revealed on the Season 9 premiere that their romance didn't exactly end there. The two apparently traveled to New York City in October, and it was there that "everyone was telling me, 'You can trust that he loves you. Y'all need to give it 100 percent.'"

Olivia continued, "When we got back from New York, he just kept telling me to give him a chance to be the guy that I knew and thought he was. I said 'Okay,' and then not even a week later, he told me his feelings had changed. Mind you, it had been a week."

Fast forward to a couple of months later when, toward the end of the Season 9 premiere, Olivia and Austen came face to face at Madison LeCroy's wedding celebration — and yep, you guessed it, the two were still not on good terms.

Shep Rose and Taylor Ann Green's Relationship

Taylor confirmed she and Shep had split up during an August 2022 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, and later shared details about the breakup on the Season 8 reunion. As for the time in between the reunion and the Season 9 premiere, Taylor said she was "still catching [her] breath" from her and Shep's turbulent relationship.

"Of course, I'll always cherish the time that Shep and I had together, but for it to come spiraling down so quickly was totally a mind f-ck," Taylor explained. "I was in love with Shep and I wanted to go full-force, like, no turning back — let's do it, let's get married, let's have a family, let's do all these things. And after Shep and I broke up, I still wanted to try to make things work, but he said, 'I will not change.' So, it's hard for me to understand his emotions in all that because I felt like I was constantly fighting and he didn't want to do that. He didn't want to fight for it."

Shep, for his part, said that the breakup was extremely difficult for him as well. More specifically, as he put it, "I was little bit broken, frankly. I just wanted to travel, get out of Charleston to try to clear my head."

He did exactly that, but added, "I'd be lying if I didn't say Taylor was on my mind at least a few times a day."

The exes ultimately had a cordial conversation at Madison's party, but things took a turn when Taylor started to reflect on Shep's alleged infidelity.
