Here’s How Kate Chastain Is “Celebrating” Her First Few Weeks of Motherhood
The Below Deck alum gave a behind-the-scenes peek at how she’s been doing since giving birth earlier in May.
Kate Chastain welcomed her son, Sullivan Cay, with an adorable “hard launch” Instagram post on May 5, and we’ve been keeping up with the new mom ever since.
On May 20, the Below Deck alum shared another precious photo of her newborn son resting in a lounger pillow as Kate’s beloved Havanese dog, Halo, gently nestled his head next to the baby. “Best Friends,” the former chief stew wrote on the Instagram Story, which was off-the-charters in terms of cuteness.
More recently, the blonde beauty took to her Instagram Stories to give her fans another sweet moment from her first weeks of motherhood. “Celebrating successful naps these days,” she wrote over a snapshot that showed a glass of white wine and what appeared to be a half-eaten green macaron.
Those early days with a newborn can definitely be demanding, but it appears Kate is taking some much-needed mommy time when the baby is asleep!
Kate later took to Twitter on May 24 to give a hilariously cute take on why she’s actually more prepared for motherhood than she realized.
“Meltdowns over scheduled meal times, multitasking to take care of their endless laundry, the entire time just hoping they drink so much they pass out…. Newborns are exactly like [Below Deck] charter guests,” she quipped.
Even with the challenging moments that come with caring for a newborn, it looks like Kate and her baby are enjoying getting settled into their gorgeous new home.
Back in March, Kate shared an Instagram Story announcing the recent move, sitting on the wood floor of her new digs with Halo at her side. “Baby needed a craftsman bungalow,” she wrote, adding heart, house, and baby bottle emojis.
Two days later, she shared an update, showing a room filled with several boxes, a dining table, chairs, and a beautiful rug she later noted was an “antique” item.
“Moving + 8 months pregnant nesting vibes = going into full yacht charter prep mode,” she wrote.
Kate has relocated a few times in the past couple of years. After moving into an apartment in New York City’s West Village neighborhood in March 2020, she packed up her things and headed to Florida just a few weeks later. Then, in January 2021, Kate shared on Bravo’s Chat Room that she was “back in New York,” but in April of the same year, she went back to Florida and further explained the details in an Instagram Story: “We’ve moved [seven] times since March 1, 2020… So [I] decided to buy a place.”
