Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula Are at Odds Over Couples Therapy: "We Have Our Challenges"
The Summer House couple discussed "putting in the work" to better their communication.
On the Season 8 premiere of Summer House, Amanda Batula opened up about the state of her marriage to Kyle Cooke, explaining, "We haven’t been in a really good place.” As the two have continued to navigate their issues, Kyle suggested on Season 8, Episode 4 that they see a couples therapist. However, Amanda wasn't exactly on board.
Kyle and Carl Radke caught up when the group first arrived at the house in the March 14 episode, and Kyle shared how attending a recent wedding helped him and Amanda feel more connected.
"I actually think weddings are really another form of therapy," he told Carl. "The person that did the officiating said some things about the work that you gotta put in from a relationship level, and she's like squeezing my hand, and I'm squeezing her, 'cause I'm like, 'See? See?' and she's like, 'See? See?'"
Kyle Cooke and Amanda Batula discuss couples therapy amid "communication" issues
Later in the episode, Kyle pulled Amanda aside to talk about finding a solution to their recent conflicts. While discussing Carl Radke and Lindsay Hubbard's heated arguments, Kyle told Amanda, "Communication is clearly at the forefront of their challenges, and that's kind of how I felt coming into this summer about us."
"We love each other. We know we want to start a family. But we're really good at procrastinating and not dealing with our issues," he continued. "I actually really respect how much effort Carl and Lindsay are putting in to improve their communication. I want to make sure that we're putting in the work."

Amanda had a different perspective. "Do you get under my skin sometimes? Yes," she said. "But we are working on it, and we are getting so much better. We've been through a lot, and it's made our foundation stronger, and we could've cracked, but we sealed that sh-t right up."
Kyle asked, "What are the chances that, like, you know, we just give couples therapy another try?"
Amanda shut the idea down, saying, "I feel like it's not it for me right now. If you have things that you want to talk to a therapist about, I think that you should." However, Kyle explained, "That's not the point. As good as we might be right now, I mean, my god, we have our challenges."
"Honestly, I'm PMSing," Amanda said. "I don't want to do sh-t right now. But catch me on a good day, and I'll say, 'Yes.'"
